Discussion for article #226941
Very good move. GOPs have already boxed themselves in. They have to double down on their response to Pres. Obama now or their base will ream them.
Good Mr President F, em.
Well well well. Just in time for November. Please proceed, GOP
Popcorn. I have it.
Hmmm, shutdown or impeachment? Or both?
I am hoping Obama won’t act on immigration until after the election. It would be so much better if Congress would compromise on this issue and pass something themselves. It seems to me that the Republicans want to deport them all and the Democrats want to let them all stay. Neither position is anything close to a compromise. If Obama acts before the election it will cause a real s storm particularly if he lets them all stay. If he lets them all stay it will likely have a negative effect on many Democratic voters. I’d be more inclined to favor allowing only certain people to stay and that being people who act like they actually want to assimilate and become part of American society. For instance, those who have already been consistently filing taxes for a set number of years or those who have served honorably in our military for at least two years. Letting them all stay is a slap in the face to those who came legally and became citizens.
Hahaha, now we are in wet dream territory yet, knowing how completely unhinged the base is I can see them pressing for both.
No Sharing?
Congress did compromise and produced a bipartisan bill that addressed the concerns of both parties. That bill passed the Senate but John Boehner has refused to bring it up for a vote. That bill would easily pass the House if Boehner would actually bring it to the floor.
In other words, you’d be more inclined to favor allowing only certain people to stay as long as they were willing to assimilate into white society. Can’t have Latinos maintaining their own culture and heritage as the Irish, Italians, Germans, and so many others have done.
I predict they’ll shut down the government until Obama agrees to his own impeachment.
hehehe. I love it! a government shutdown just before midterms is a win for dems and a loss for the gop. the president knows this.
An interesting article for you. As always the politics of this and most important issues facing our country are becoming more and more muddled by non-stop congressional campaigning and posturing.
Oh and grousing from GOP chicken hawks about the situation in Syria and Iraq won’t goad Obama into sending an increased force their way.
I say, they’re about as sharp as a bowling ball.
The GOP threatens______(fill in the gap). The President has them on the ropes. They have to feed the hate to the base and yet the majority of Americans will not tolerate another government shut down. Republicans dug their grave and now we just need to fill it in.
Your concern has been duly noted.
