Discussion: White House: New Economic Sanctions On Russia, Iran Constrains President's Authority

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the former CEO of Exxon Mobil, has declined to endorse the sanctions legislation. He said during congressional testimony that Trump needs to have “the flexibility to adjust sanctions to meet the needs of what is always an evolving diplomatic situation” with Russia.

The only thing about Tillerson’s statement that I would agree with is the “evolving diplomatic situation” part. Boy howdy, do I agree that things are “evolving.”

Exxon - Mobile is only an American company to the extent that they collect subsidies and enjoy military and political protection of their multinational resource acquisitions and trade deals.

If ever a President needed to be constrained by law, this one is it.

Well, DUH!

That is the PURPOSE of the “Separation of Powers” in the US Constitution after all…

Someday this WH will realize that Trump is not a King (although he thinks he is.)

i think the white house is to be congratulated for confirming its ignorance on a very fundamental level of how checks and balances work in american government.

Yes, ,As it should in this admin of incompetence. …
