Still, he said, Trump “generally sides on the side of transparency” and wants the document released.

Hence his orders to his accountants to release his tax returns.

They’re only in support of law enforcement when they are investigating the Democrats and Secretary Clinton.

@clauscph Which side does Sessions support ?

First Senator to declare open support? Surely your question is in jest, sir.

Anything originating with Devin Nunes it should be released under a pile of steaming horseshit.

He’s less credible than than the current occupant.

Anything that puts a focus on why Carter Page was within 1000 miles of a presidential campaign is good news for Trump.

“…a sensitive classified memo that many Republicans say shines a light on improper conduct by the Justice Department…”

Is it signed, “Epstein’s mother”?

@clauscph I was referring to the time before his appointment as AG.

So, a memo written by a close Trump ally (Devin Nunes) shows that a Trump appointee (Rod Rosenstein) applied to the FISA court to continue surveillance of a Trump campaign operative and longtime Trump associate (Carter Page).

As Asha Rangappa demostrates in this excellent thread (I strongly recommend everyone here read the entire thread), the FISA warrant had already been renewed at least once under Rosenstein, and approved by the FISA court. This is important because:

4. In deciding whether to approve an extension of surveillance, the DOJ has to show the FISA court that the surveillance has yielded actual, valuable foreign intelligence information that is relevant to the underlying case, and that target is acting on behalf of foreign intel.

— Asha Rangappa (@AshaRangappa_) January 29, 2018

5. To be clear, this means that the DOJ had to go in and show *recent, brand-new information* -- actual communications -- showing that Page was engaging in clandestine intelligence activity on behalf of the Russians. This has nothing to do with the dossier.

— Asha Rangappa (@AshaRangappa_) January 29, 2018

6. KEY PIECE OF INFORMATION: Keep in mind that once a FISA begins on a USPER, the DOJ has to check in with the court *every 90 days* and provide evidence that they are getting foreign intel in order to extend the FISA for longer. Why is this important?

— Asha Rangappa (@AshaRangappa_) January 29, 2018

7. Well, the FISA began around September 2016. DAG Rosenstein did not come on board until February 2017. That means that the Page FISA had ALREADY BEEN EXTENDED ONCE by a FISA court in the interim. Meaning that through December, the FBI collected proof of foreign intel activity

This would be the first time he’s called for transparency. Or maybe the second, since he did ask his friend Vlad to release Hillary’s emails.

Things are heating up, it shouldn’t be too long now.

The mention of Page’s name necessarily means another two months of Page seeking television interviews with any program that will have him.

Somewhere in midtown Manhattan, Josh Barro is joygasming.
