Well, I suppose that was politically necessary for the White House.
As for me, I say good riddance to bad rubbish. Scalia was a pox on America and his exit is a gift to us all.

Dear Mr. President,
As usual, Obama is more gracious to his ideological foes than they ever were to him.
Now let’s immediately dismiss the notion that it’s constitutional to stall for a full year
to replace Scalia…start the wheel moving at once.
