Discussion: White House Briefing Remains Off-Camera

What if there was a White House briefing and no one showed up to cover it. Does it exist?

Can we please get all future White House Press Briefing transcripts/notes (can people even take notes there still?) re-enacted by Mellissa McCarthy? You know, kind of like the puppy Supreme Court John Oliver put out?

Seriously, we all know that impersonations like this are what actually stick in the public’s mind (ex, Sarah Palin never said she could see Russia from her house; Tina Fey as Sarah Palin did). If the White House doesn’t want the real Sean Spicer’s asshatery to be indelibly marked in history, we’ll have a clever parody of it etched in the public consciousness instead.

How about animated stick figures from the Simpson’s production staff using the voiceovers from the actual press briefing? Perhaps Spicer’s voice emanating from a bush.

How about the networks “man up” and stop attending these so-called press conferences until the cameras go back on? It takes two to tango…

Turn about is fair play. Stop covering PO(tu)S’ appearances live. Only use a still photo and provide edited voice copy after the event is over.

The problem is that is completely to Trump’s advantage. He wants the media to give up.

I think the solution is to provide the video and audio with paid actors / cartoons / whatever until Trump mans up and allows his bullshit to be directly recorded for posterity. And if there is a slight discrepancy between the depiction and what Spicer/Trump say happened, let them prove it.

Provide audio. Stop every time they make a statement. Fact check it. Move to next lie.

Sock puppets with those googlie eyes and voiced by Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer.

That’s exactly what the WH wants- restrict press access, without having to admit that they are doing so. I wonder what happens if every reporter shows up with a camera despite the rules.

“Why don’t we turn the cameras on, Sean?”

Turn on your fuckin’ camera, or walk away! They are still whining and letting the traitors run the show as they want? Unbelievable.

He’s painful to watch, live or recorded. I’ll go for the still photo every time.

Completely agree, and love this idea!

They could either a) not go, or b) livestream it on their phones anyway, and dare the White House to throw them out. If Spiceman did throw them out, that would be a great story, so it’s a win-win for reporters. Why the fuck do they always choose c) subjugate themselves?

The media should sit in for the briefing BUT as soon as the spokesperson took the lectern the media should walk out .
