I hope you’re right. Unfortunately, they’ve surprised us before by pulling some really ugly shit out of their asses and calling it gold. And some people have actually believed them! Imagine that?!?
I hope I’m right too.
Kill -no
Damage -no
I think the operative term will be Privatize (and therefore by definition improve).
I wish I shared your optimism,. But these are gigantic piles of gold which these people dream about every night. Privatizing would be a titanic flush of gold into the private sector.
It can happen. There is no lack of will.
If GOP members of Congress separated the tax cuts from their “healthcare” plan, I might believe they are actually trying to pass a healthcare plan, sorry as it would be. A Senate vote to repeal Obamacare would leave millions without healthcare, but it would also give the wealthy their tax cuts. I would not rule out the possibility that McConnell will do this.
Just do it.
Rip insurance away from 20+ million Americans and quit with this ‘death by a thousand cuts bull sh*t’ Kabuki Dance.
There will be barbarians in the streets.
Mad as hell.
With pitchforks.
With torches.
Many wearing their overpriced MAGA hats wanting a pound of GOP flesh.
Ryan is deemed the smartest guy in the Congress, the wonk to end all wonks, and of course yeah, “privatizing” has always been his dream just as ending Medicaid was something he dreamed about since doing keggers. The stupider Rs hearing this will fall in line and say let’s do it. They all fell in line to repeal and replace and now look at them, angry constituents showing up everywhere and going after them and the likely possibility that House Rs who voted to repeal but whose districts went to Clinton will be in jeopardy (going to happen in California). They’ll destroy themselves before they touch these programs. They’re called the third rail of politics and we know why.
That’s not what I’m hearing on the news circuit this Sunday morning.
Sen Capito says she’s not in the business to hurt people!
Sen Murkowski is not falling for this crap either
Sen Collins is not going to let seniors in her district fall by the wayside either.
So how can the GOP be close? ITS A LIE!
You guys have “been close” for years now. Yawn.
Even Trump’s base knows their Republican Party of the 1% is totally incapable of developing and passing a healthcare bill whether it be now or as a later replacement. It’ll never happen…especially when they have to get going on impeaching Trump, Pence, and the lying Gorsuch.
Agreed. The social issues are mere tools that the Big Money Players use to manipulate the republican amygdala. It is always always always all about the money…
“That’s not losing, that’s choosing.”
So I guess Paul Ryan’s latest horrendous bullshit defense has become the official party line of the GOP to defend the RTCFTWMAAHB (Republican Tax Cut For The Wealthy Masquerading As A Healthcare Bill).
Whatever. They don’t have the votes and they’re not going to get them.
Even a skilled political operator has to deal with the fact that this bill would certainly pick off vulnerable legislators. Besides, he said “respect.” You said “master” and to be fair McConnell has been very effective and creative at obstruction. The fact that the party as a whole is not very good at actual legislation is neither here nor there.
“Because it’s not murder if we warn you about it. Right?”
More Trump White House FAKE NEWS. Rand Paul says they are at an impasse. I choose not to believe the liar in the White House.
Clearly if repubs do this they are pure evil. They do not believe that the government plays a role in healthcare for we the people. It is who they are. And we know trump lied about healthcare and now we are all going to pay big time.
I doubt this person has any clue what he is talking about.
“That’s ridiculous,” Short insisted. “That’s not losing, that’s choosing.”
There it is, in a nutshell. The modern GOP’s version of “compassionate conservatism”. It’s so simple. Just choose not to be born to disadvantaged parents. Choose not to get sick. Choose to be rich. Don’t know what’s wrong with all those stupid, lazy, irresponsible losers who aren’t as wise and wonderful and virtuous as I am.
Oh, and Blessed by the Lord, too. Because there is a strong streak of modern-day Calvinism in here, too. Got sick? God must be punishing you. No money? Well, wealth in this world is a sign of God’s favor … you sinner, you.
Ever wonder how so many Evangelicals could hold their noses and vote for someone whose character is so obviously contrary to everything they profess to stand for? Well … if he were as bad as all that, the the Good Lord wouldn’t have made him so rich, would he?
(This, by the way, seems to be a uniquely American variant of Christianism. Not to be confused with Christianity, at least the kind that thinks the Sermon on the Mount actually means what it says.)
Seems like an empty bluff. I’m still thinking of the scene in Blazing Saddles when the sheriff holds the gun to his own head to hold off the angry mob. Good luck with that.
Blah, blah, blah, blah blah. Blah!
