Discussion: White Ex-Police Chief Takes Deal In Shooting Death Of Black Man After 2 Mistrials

Discussion for article #240023

"both cases ended with hung juries. "

Because all it takes is one or two of them to say “I refuse ot ever convict a police officer of anything for shooting an unarmed black person allegedly engaged in criminal conduct and who was resisting and talking back and being all uppity.” Talk about a major advantage to the defense when picking jurors for these cases…

Another miscarriage of justice, Southern style. It’s OK if white police murder black men.

Where will the white supremacist ever find another place to exercise his perceived dominance ever again.

There is definitely something not right in the justice system when fair is seen as one person dying and another losing his job. What is just about that?

And good luck getting that one to admit having that attitude on voir dire. You only have to fail to root it out in one.

Most racists know how to “code switch” in day to day life in most places, so I admire those who can ferret it out in voir dire.

It’s an amazing skill set that takes both native talent and vast experience. Stunning to watch when it’s done well and I’ll be damned if I believe a pricy NITA thing can endow you with the ability.

Can you imagine how fast a jury would have convicted a black man of murder had the roles been reversed? What’s the record for the shortest jury deliberation?
