Hopefully Trump loses and Acosta is reinstated. I imagine Trump then will simply ignore him?

I have no idea what the actual law is on this particular situation. But certainly if it’s allowed to stand, there’ll be a huge chilling effect. Push too hard, and you’re shut out of the most prominent position you ever had—and no matter what you say, that’s what it is for most of these people—and you’ll almost certainly take a huge pay cut and cripple your career for life as a result.
I’m pretty sure Trump is incapable of not picking at that scab. He may not call on him, but he will announce he’s not calling on him, opine on his character, etc. while not calling on him. He might even go so far as to assign him a seat in the back that is likely to collapse or be the size for a kindergartener or comes labeled with “dunce” or some other stupid thing.
Maybe. It happened once, after the supposed birtherism-ending announcement. I’m not holding my breath. 
Trump would be within his right to do so and there is precedent for that kind of action.
Removing Acosta’s credentials? Not so much.
The Koch-led crusade to make this country into an extremist libertarian paradise pretty much mandates the dissolution of the free press.
The extremist libertarian thinks it’s am immoral encroachment on personal liberty for “special interest groups” like “a majority of voters” to support laws that constrain in any way the actions of the wealthy and powerful. The free press is a key element of how disconnected voters coordinate their actions. And so, it has to go.
And yet some of our loudest, angriest, most “passionate” and therefore obviously correct voices here say the media are right-leaning corporate mouthpieces for their billionaire owners and are obviously collaborating with Trump to destroy—um—themselves? Or set up a fascist thingy or whatever it is. It’s deliberate, they’re saying, it’s no accident, it’s not that they made mistakes or were used or are just another institution that’s tried but mostly failed to meet and adapt to this challenge with notable exceptions like our honored hosts right here. Which leaves me SO CONFUSED I can tell you.
