Discussion: What's Behind The Lowest Jobless Numbers Of Obama's Administration?

Discussion for article #228412

It would be edifying to see a comparison between wage growth (or lack of it), and corporate profit growth over the period of the last 10 years, especially in comparison with previous recoveries.

Shouldn’t all this be headline news across the country?

I don’t think edifying is an appropriate descriptor: try shocking.

The news has to be parsed by the “pundits” first. You wouldn’t want to give Americans false vibrations before the elections, comrade. They may vote wrongly, and Jones would return! Where would we be then?

Wage growth? Wage growth? WAGE GROWTH? Impossible! Unthinkable! We’d lose our competitiveness! Job creators would be forced to lay off workers! Inflation would surely skyrocket! It would just fill people’s heads up with a lot of impossible nonsense and turn them from a thrifty working class to a lazy, discontented rabble!

Clearly, we must slash government spending and further shift the tax burden downward to head off this catastrophe!

Wage growth? The very idea . . . Madness! Folly! Theft!

I remember seeing a story in the Economist many years ago.It showed that economic recoveries after financial bubble implosions on average take 6 years. This recovery seems right about where the article predicted it would be.

“The lowest unemployment rate of the Obama Administrations.” Sort of like being the tallest building in Keokuk, Iowa.

There is no comparison between Democratic administrations and GOP administrations.
Democrats are better for the economy by far. Pick any chart you want, and Democrats beat the hell out of Republicans on the economy. (And where the hell is Hugh_Everett vainly to dispute this indisputable fact?)

“…which many economists consider a healthy level for the United States…”

If only Republicans had helped. We could have avoided so much expense and heartache, and gotten value for our money back sooner. I guess conservatives aren’t interested in a healthy economy.

There is no patriotism left among Republicans.

And Reagan achieved his only through excess.

Reagan spent the equivalent of three Presidential budgets during his two terms.

I wonder what the Sunday Talk shows will be talking about this weekend? A drop in the unemployment rate to 5.9% and 248,000 jobs created or 1 case of Ebola. Fear always wins. America is the safest scariest place on earth according to the Republicans…

Umm, Obama and his administration are behind the numbers and so is the Democratic party.
This doesn’t happen with Republican rule unless it’s a false bubble.

Give Obama credit, he deserves a lot. No inflation or stagflation either so this is real.
When we win in the upcoming election it will be even better because the Repubs are going to have to chill out on their, we aren’t being conservative enough, lie that they are deluding themselves with.
