Discussion: What We Know (And Don't!) About Today's Unpredictable Obamacare Votes

Nobody knows for sure where we will end up at the end of this dumbfuckian process.

But in the meantime, feel free to enjoy some delicious Republican Tears of Impotent Rage…

Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) have said they want to see what the bill actually is before voting on it.

The fact that this is a revolutionary, party-bucking concept for today’s GOP is frightening. Think about that – two Republican Senators are being excoriated by their party for wanting to see what the bill actually is before voting on it.

There is no such thing as a “skinny repeal”. It the “death spiral” measure (or Act).

“I don’t know if Dems will continue to miss opportunities to have amendments,” said a McConnell aide.

Those pesky Dems and their continual rejection of the proffered olive branch of bipartisanship!
They of all people should know it 'takes a village" to take away health insurance!

Eric Cantor admits It was all a charade

He says he wasn’t the only one aware of the charade: “We sort of all got what was going on, that there was this disconnect in terms of communication, because no one wanted to take the time out in the general public to even think about ‘Wait a minute—that can’t happen.’ ” But, he adds, “if you’ve got that anger working for you, you’re gonna let it be.”

It’s a stunning admission from a former member of the party leadership—that the linchpin of GOP electoral strategy for the better part of a decade was a fantasy, a flame continually fanned solely because, when it came to midterm elections, it worked. (Barring, of course, his own.)

Wouldn’t repeal of the mandates take 60 votes?

McConnell may be craven with a heaping cup of evil, but he is not stupid. He knows he has to pass something through the Senate. He is perfectly OK with the skinny bill passing and dying in conference. If it dies in conference, he can say. “The Senate did their job.” If it gets signed into law, he’ll say, “We did what we said we’d do for the voters who sent us.” Sadly, failure to pass a turd through the bowels of the Senate Chamber will cause the most harm politically.

How does repealing mandates pass the reconciliation rules?

He considers Trump et al an “angry detour” that will soon sputter out and leave the GOP back on that good old fiscally conservative, pro immigrant (anti woman) track of yesteryear.

Ah, Eric, and if it doesn’t?

“God help us,” Cantor says. “Because how does it end?”

Yep, that about sums it up Eric. Your party has betrayed our democracy by gambling it on a madman in return for power. A deal with the devil, if ever there was one. Who is going to give the devil his due Eric? You? The GOP? Or all of us?

Shame on you and every member of the GOP. Shame on every sheeple who voted for this monster. Shame on every voter who stayed home. Shame on every voter who voted third party. Shame on the Democratic Party for not running a smarter campaign.

There is plenty of shame to go around, Eric, but it starts with people like you. I hope the devil shows up at your door first. Shame on you for being a first mover in this catastrophe.

Once again, on behalf of most of us, I’d like to thank the voters of Kentucky for sending this evil, twisted little man to the Senate. He’ll leave a legacy of being the worst kind of corporate toady and one of the most vile men to serve in that august body since Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms. A hearty “go fuck yourself” to ever Senator who votes to take health care away from millions of Americans.

The Hill is reporting [Senate Republicans plan to defund Planned Parenthood in ‘skinny’ repeal][1]

It is also possible Democrats could challenge Planned Parenthood defunding by arguing it does not comply with Senate rules governing the fast-track procedure being used. A Democratic aide said they would have to see the text of the provision before deciding whether to challenge it.
