The Donald must be so proud.

He doesn’t look like a 'Muslin".

"Houser was denied a conceal carry permit in 2006 and was treated for mental health issues in 2008 and 2009.

So I guess all those intense background checks for guns worked, eh?

The media is calling him a “loner” and a “drifter.”

But not a terrorist.

Same for Dylann Roof, Eric Frein, Richard Poplawski, Eric Robert Rudolph, James Kopp, Jim David Atkisson, Scott Roeder, Jerad and Amanda Miller, and the whole lot of these vile right wing terrorist sonsofbitches.

Oh no, they’re “troubled,” they’re “activists,” they’re “crazy,” they’re “loners” … they’re called anything and everything but what they are: radicalized right wing domestic terrorists that are by a wide margin the leading threat to our national security.

Until we call them what they are and elicit the public outrage that’s warranted, we will never be able to demand of a police force sympathetic to this ideology that they treat this threat with the seriousness and focused attention it deserves.

“Houser also served as the guest host on the ‘Rise and Shine’ show.”

That sounds nice.

Was he available for children’s parties?

This is the biggest threat to America: our own homegrown right-wing fanatics.

Funny how the media IMMEDIATELY begins to malign a black person as soon as their killed by police, yet an obvious white, right wing terrorist gets the benefit of the doubt. “Oh we’re not sure it’s really him posting all these hateful screeds” say investigators, even though ALL signs point to the obvious.

Amazing.

Man, I dunno. Seems like that would feed into the core paranoia of the RWNJ culture. They want another Ruby Ridge or Waco to validate all their conspiracy theories. I have no cogent alternative action, but it jut feels like escalating in this specific way would be playing into their narrative and empowering them more than making America any safer.

It seems in most cases these events are a result of the mentally ill who have easy access to fire power. The answer to the problem lives somewhere in that intersection.

Somehow, I’d feel more comfortable with this guy

I think part of the problem is that the line between mentally ill and extreme right-wing - or for that matter religious fundamentalist - isn’t a clear one. To a large extent, the latter follows the former.

No surprise here. The only thing I’ve noticed is how much the LA police who are investigating this guy have downplayed his background so far as a rightwing nutjob. Sort of looks like an attempt to whitewash the killer as anything but being a domestic terrorist with an offensive rightwing ideology.

So far this killer is being characterized as an unhinged and unbalanced loner…even when there’s plenty of information out now about just what kind of shit got him unhinged, and that he continued to fundamentally believe in over the years.

As much as I hate the word enabler, I think it applies here. The further right you go the more willing folks are to enable the worst aspects of mentally ill behavior, and actually, nurse it along. It isn’t seen as a bug, but a feature.

Some are mentally ill, had clear symptoms or an explicit history, but others are just as clearly suggestible people without any clinical symptoms of illness who are strongly affected by the propaganda going out 24/7 about dire consequences from the tyrannical government so forth so on blah blah blah. Roof wanted to start a race war. That’s the textbook definition of terrorism—he had a sociopolitical goal for the violence. God knows the insane access to weapons is a huge factor. But the other elements to call this terrorism are there in many cases. I don’t know if this loon had a goal, but he intended to escape; it wasn’t clearly suicide by cop with a bunch of murders thrown in just for grins.

This guy was definitely a devout follower of the Church of Fox Nation.

So this “drifter” had a radio show.

Yep, let’s square that rhetorical circle media.

This sheriff speaking now on the teevee in charge of the investigation keeps saying “mentally ill” over and over again. Refuses to look at the other information on the guy that’s out there. How much you want to bet that this sheriff gets donations from the local NRA as a campaign contribution. Fuck this guy.

Yeah, true enough. Roof was a racist fuck with delusions of grandeur. He thought he was going to usher in a new race war. Some skinny insignificant redneck puke thinks he’s going to change the course of American history? Seems pretty unstable to me.

But I agree with most here, the right wing media feeds these sick minds plenty of motives while constitutionally granted gun rights ensure no lack of firepower. It is a fucked up cocktail.
