Just as I thought, another bottom-of-the-barrel fool with that extra stupid look in his face.
Does Rahami have any connection to Russians?
The Afghanis I know would beat this guy mercilessly to within an inch of his life before they turned him in to the cops.
as a police robot attempted to diffuse the device
That would be defuse, not diffuse. However, inactivate would be le mot juste in this instance.
So all Afghanis you know are violent people?
No, that is not the point. They are protective of the wonderfulness of the American society into which they are fully integrated and appreciative. They would beat him out of a sense of self-defense. You are being deliberately obtuse.
Rahami, Rahmi, Rahimi, apparently it’s a take-your-pick situation.
They just have a rough sense of justice. Much like some law enforcement officers.
I know an Afghan physician and her two sons who fled to the U.S. just before the Taliban took control. Her sons have both graduated from major state universities, with one pursuing a graduate engineering degree. They are more knowledgeable about—appreciative of—our country’s system of government and Constitution than the majority of native-born Americans. They are as far away from being Islamic terrorists as Donald Trump is, since, unlike him, they’ve seen radical Islamic terror firsthand.
Numbskulls like Rahami pose a horrible political dilemma for Clinton. The usual reaction of a large percentage of America is mindless hysteria desperate for a “strong” and immediate response, and the vast majority of the news media reinforces that panic. Her call for quiet, firm resolve will be derided as a limp “do-nothing” approach, which will be contrasted with Trump’s hypermasculine demand to lash out.
It’s a given that for the next week at the minimum AP, CNN, and of course Fox will be lambasting Clinton and the Democrats as being “soft on terra” while Trump offers strength and security. I fully expect that the NYT, NPR, and other supposedly “liberal” news orgs will be concocting their own spin as well, designed to diminish Clinton and elevate Trump.
I don’t know how Clinton can change the narrative all by herself on this, given the headless-chicken-running-in-circles predisposition of at least 50% of the country.
Trump is an aspiring terrorist: There is no other way to read his suggestion that innocent children be tortured to coerce their elders.
Actually, they diffused it while trying to defuse it.
diffuse
verb
- to spread or scatter widely or thinly
I think I would have gone with “deactivate”.
Rough explanation, but meaning is derived from consonants rather than vowels in Arabic.
Just some general information. The address in NJ that the police searched is Ahmad Khan’s Rahami’s address is a restaurant with a home above it. Apparently it’s his family’s place. https://www.facebook.com/search/117906891569433/local_search?surface=sist
One of the people who posted on the restaurant’s web pages is Mohammad Kahn R. I don’t think that’s Ahmad, this guy trims his eyebrows (although they grow), seems to have a son, and stated that it was his (first) home. So my guess is that it’s his brother. Here is his facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mkrahami.
I’m just snooping around mostly.
DEactivate serait meme plus juste!
It is amazing that the same people who go on about how the young-uns in this country have it too easy and are too indulged, how the country as a whole is “too soft and feminine”(a recent poll had upwards of 60% of Trump supporters who agreed with that judgment) are the same ones who are in a wild state of panic over every possible threat anywhere in the world. My brother’s office is literally 7 blocks away from the Chelsea explosion (he also lives in NJ about 30 minutes from where they caught this guy). He’s not scared, his wife is not scared, none of their friends are scared. Happily, no one got hurt or even seriously injured, law enforcement did its job very well. What is the matter with these right-wing wimps, afraid of their own shadows?
Their restaurant was apparently a neighborhood menace and the father recently had a computer equipment bonfire out back.

Edit to add:
The part about the neighbors gossiping about the father burning computer equipment in the backyard just a few days ago has been removed the The Times article for some reason.
How to make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom’s restaurant.
Apparently they’ve now gone with “disarm”: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/elizabeth-new-jersey-robot-explodes-bomb
