Discussion: What The U.S. Ebola Cases Actually Reveal About Our Medical System

Discussion for article #228937

Remember

The US Mess started in Texas.

No prayer rugs were involved.

Does this governmental response remind any others of the failure of our security agencies to detect the pre-9/11 plans?

Time for some government-controlled health care!

There is a model of a country that has been successful in dealing with ebola on a scale that has (so far) 5 times as many victims as what we have seen. http://goo.gl/bpp40Y The key is the ‘contact tracing’. This country had 19 confirmed cases of ebola that all stemmed from one patient that happened to collapse and die at their airport. The health care authorities in this country did a contact trace that involved a remarkable 18,500 face to face interviews and follow up visits to make sure that none of these incidental contacts developed the infection. Of the 19 people that came down with the disease, 8 died.

Somebody should really tell Fox News and the right wing noise machine that rather than proposing dead end “solutions” like a travel ban that will only make things worse… They should study what worked over there and help the country figure out how to make it work here. Picking political fights is not a way to get us through this.

In conclusion: when we’re all dead from ebola, thank a Republican.
