Discussion: What The Mueller Report Reveals About The Infamous Trump Tower Meeting With Don Jr

This is perhaps the one place where I think Mueller fell short. While I know he did not want to spark a constitutional crisis in indicting Don, Jr. and Little Jerred, his argument that they were ultimately not charged with “solicitation of foreign in kind support” under the campaign finance laws because it was hard to prove that they “knew it was illegal” is bullshit. (a) they hid it, (b) they lied about it. Both know knowledge and intent. and © the campaign advisors who where involved know the law, and (d) anyone with half a brain knows its illegal to solicit foreign $$$ or help, and not knowing the law is not a defense.

but P.S. In the area of “prosecutorial discretion” Mueller likely felt that the case was not a slam dunk, Trump would likely invoke his pardon power, and Rosenstein was unlikely to agree to a charge. Given that it appears that Mueller’s report was written an impeachment referral to congress he may have felt that getting the report to Congress was his real task, and that any charges can be brought later, with a new administration.

Total exoneration.

Well cripes if he knew it looked bad that’s culpability, right?

This white-wash only works if these skewed IOIYAR standards are applied to everyone.

Otherwise, we’re Paraguay under Stroessman.

Since when is being dumb as a sack of hammers gets you out of being prosecuted for attempting to conspire with a foreign power to tamper with an American election?

I understand why Mueller did not indict the junior shitgibbon for treason (Daddy would pardon him within the hour of the indictment being released to the public), but the junior shitgibbon’s ignorance of federal election law SHOULD NOT be a get-out-of-jail-free card.

To receive a presidential pardon One Scoop would have to admit what he’s being pardoned for. #45 can’t do that without greater exposure to his own -ahem- errors of judgement.

Since your last name is Trump.

Junior gets a pass because he didn’t know enough about elections law? Tell that to the black woman in Texas who is serving 5 years in prison because she didn’t know enough about election law to know she was ineligible to vote while on parole.

That’s different. She’s black.

It’s also a different law. She was convicted on a state law pertaining to voter fraud. The campaign finance laws are strict liability statutes - they require knowing and Junior is apparently too dumb to breathe on his own. At least that’s his defense.

The President is just too darn sensitive -that’s Barr’s defense of Trump;; his son is just too darn stupid. That’s the defense for Junior.

Ultimately, Mueller determined that Trump Jr. didn’t have enough knowledge of election law for Mueller to recommend charges over this pursuit of foreign election assistance.

WTF??? Apparently ignorance is exculpatory. Did little donnie dumbnuts have a title in the campaign?

Well, at least it will make for some good political ads in 2020
I can see the SNL commercial now: From the makers of “Complicity” we bring you “Kompromat”.

Jr. & the others are now in a little box when it comes to foreign entanglement. They may not have known in 2016 – they come from a willfully ignorant class of people who don’t concern themselves with rules
 but now?

Just remembering these two gems:

Trump Tower meeting with Russians ‘treasonous’, Bannon says in explosive book

Bannon said there’s ‘zero’ chance Trump didn’t know about Don Jr.'s Russia meeting: report

It’s piled so high and deep around donald, that there must be a pony there somewhere
right?

You’re being sarcastic right?

Mueller should take her case!

I’m guessing somebody else has a better case against Jr.
