Discussion: What Jumps Out From The Subpoena Of The Trump Inaugural Committee

Again, another day, another impeachable offense for a Democrat.

Sadly there will be no “last” advantage.

Republicans have been salivating at the thought of screwing up the country for decades. Trump is the enabler extraordinnaire of this project.

They will continue to support him as long as possible.

The beatings will never cease.

So, it has been widely reported that SDNY has a grand jury looking at Trump et al… This story says that EDNY (Brooklyn) is issuing subpoenas too. Does this mean there is a Trump Grand Jury coming after Trump from Brooklyn too?

What jumps out??
Nothing unusual, just the same ole saying that:
What trump touches or is attached to always turns to shit or dies.
This list grows continuously and 99% of anyone with these issues would be torn to pieces and turned into dust.
His day is coming, someday

Really…it took two years just to come up with this subpoena?

I like that it took that long. These guys don’t seem to be playing to eke out victories. They do their homework and build a case they know will win. By establishing this early, it sets up the default impression that, if they’ve come for you, they already know everything. There’s no hiding, and there’s no escape other than to cooperate to help them get the person they’re really after.

““Many others gave considerably more [than Zuberi,]” the spokesman said.”

e/t/a: “…and I’ll rat out all those others before I do one hour of jail time, added Zuberi.”

But in very many cases, circumstances require that the harpooneer shall remain on the whale till the whole flensing or stripping operation is concluded. (Moby Dick)

“Say what you will, Dude…”

[taps mic…] “is this thing on? Yeah? OK. The above is, um, well…panicky.”

Let the SC do their work.

Quintessential Mueller-rolls-mobsters playbook. And it’s going to work.

The Zuberi spokesman confirmed that there were three conversations with Cohen, and added that they were all brief.

Oh, ok then, no criminal activity could possibly be involved in brief conversations. Thank god.

I laughed at this as if it were snark, not knowing that Sanders actually said this. Astonishing.

Attorneys General. You’re welcome.

If you’re looking for delightful reading, you should look at Marcy Wheeler’s articles on how the DOJ policy on not indicting the President still gives them the ability to indict, convict, and essentially obliterate the Trump Organization. Whether the SC, SDNY, or the state of New York will pull the trigger—or pull the trigger at all—remains to be seen. But based on what we already know, it’s certainly possible that Trump will leave office without an asset to his name.

No doubt Zuberi is on the hook because of Cohen’s tapes. I wonder what else will shake loose from that gift that keeps on giving. And Cohen may be looking at more charges as well. He should have cooperated in full when given the chance.

In TrumpWorld, generals need attorneys, and attorneys need generals.

The general theory is that Cohen is happily threw Trump and Co under the bus, but protected Fima Shusterman and his Ukrainian in-laws. In which case, it’s unlikely that Mueller will file charges against Cohen.

“My attorneys”, “my generals”, he owns everyone.

…But this ain’t Mueller. This will be from SDNY, who was not pleased with Cohen…

Do prosecutors have to show cause and get a judge’s approval before issuing a document subpoena, like for a search warrant?

Exactly. Cohen has a tough decision to make. Cooperate fully and expose his mob- connected father in law while reducing his jail time or keep his mouth shut and have SDNY add additional charges potentially resulting in years more in a federal prison. Meaning he’ll miss his kid’s entire remaining childhood.

Depends. In civil cases a judge’s permission isn’t required for documents, unless the subpoena is addressed to a high level government official, according to the google.
