The Trump Family Flag…

The first leg of the walk-back was soooooo predictable.
The rest of the walk-back will follow, as surely as night follows day—and the whole thing will vanish into thin air.
Trump may even deny having made the suggestion in the first place by the time this is over.

“exemptions would be made on a “case by case” and “country by country” basis”

Teatroll Rosetta Stone: “Based on what they offer Trump as a bribe.”

I wouldn’t call this “walking back” at all. It’s precisely what was intended all along, i.e., “Look what I’m going to blow up. What’ll you give me not to blow it up?”

What this is, is just changing the language they’re using to describe it in order to make it sound nice. It’s a semantics game.

Great, so to get an exemption, does one need to invest in a Trump Hotel?

That will change… Vladimir has yet to weigh in

“The president plans to rally Republicans in western Pennsylvania on Saturday in support of Rick Saccone, who faces Democrat Conor Lamb in a March 13 special House election.”

Polling shows support for tariffs rising within the GOP base.

It’s up 1.3% among Slack-Jawed Americans.

2.5% among Mouth-Breathing Americans.

And a whopping 4.4% among Knuckle-Dragging Americans.

Literally tens of them are fired up, and racing to master opposable thumbs by Election Day.

“He’s already indicated a degree of flexibility, I think a very sensible, very balanced degree of flexibility,” Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told CNBC. “We’re not trying to blow up the world.”

This is quite a long way from “Trade wars are easy to win.”

That breeze brought to you by the departure of Gary Cohn.

The end of the article is a good place to start, is this all about the special election in PA in 6 days that if the GOP loses will result in GOP incumbents running for reelection in full panic mode. Remember, the most important job in the world is YOUR job.

That said, Gary Cohn’s resignation makes me think Trump intends to go through with this stupid trade war regardless of the result next Tuesday. If Trump does set off a trade war over steel and aluminum it will not be nearly as harmful and stupid as Bush’s Iraq War or even the War on Drugs that has been going on for over 40 years and has had millions of casualties especially all those pot smokers in jail.

That said, the biggest losers in Trump’s trade war will be first and foremost rural agriculture. As the most subsidized business in the planet, the only industry that has its own cabinet level secretary, agriculture benefits from trade and in return manufacturing suffers. That is at trade negotiations with other countries in response to America complaining about other countries government subsidies to its manufacturing industries the other countries point out that those subsidies pale in comparison to U.S. subsidies to its agricultural segment. The second biggest losers will be American manufacturing that uses steel and aluminum as their prices will rise making them less competitive hurting mostly blue color workers. That is the biggest losers from Trump’s stupid trade war will be Trump voters.

That said, the biggest winner from all this is Vladimir Putin as Russia suffers very little from Trump’s starting a trade war over steel and aluminum but benefits greatly from the division in those that oppose him and isolates his most dangerous competitor, America.

the U.S. trade representative is studying whether Chinese intellectual property rules are “unreasonable or discriminatory” to American business.

The first case they will examine is whether the Trump syndicate was given special treatment in quickly securing 38 new trademarks to develop potential businesses in China.

Ummmmmm, I think I missed the “flexible” tweets…

A reminder: Trump’s book, “The Art of the Deal,” also had a co-author.

It’s always wise to be open to exceptions when taking an absolutely no exceptions stance.

So once again, trump actually had no effing clue what he was talking about, and neither did the assh*les who put this particular bug in his ear. Not even competent evil.

And this surprised you?!?

It was ghost written.

Trump had nothing to do with it other than to slap his name on it. Much like most of his hotels.

And envelope by envelope basis is how it is done.

So, no tariffs. (I approve of that). And no wall, no better, cheaper health care. No surprise.
