Discussion: WH: Trump Was 'Making A Joke' When He Endorsed Police Abuse In Speech

The sad part of this is that you have to pick between two scenarios:

  1. The President honestly can’t think of a reason why police shouldn’t rough up suspects in custody…
  2. The President is so unaware of his own position so as to consider why such a joke is a bad idea in public…

Or, you know, both…

Problem is that we don’t know if he is joking or not. He never laughs.

He is such a transparent lizard. He just picks whatever excuse he thinks will fly on whatever day/moment.

Wow. That one is not even worth the effort to call bullshit on.

No joke. No joke. You’re the joke.

Can someone ask her for future reference, how we can tell when the President is joking.
Because if he tweets “We begin bombing Russia in five minutes”, a la Reagan, the outcome will be very, very different.

Everything that comes out of his mouth is a bad joke.

Notice that Tramp is fundamentally incapable of expressing remorse or an apology. A minion must unconvincingly do it.

And that bone-headed “joke” by St. Ronnie sent the Russians temporarily onto high alert. Comedy gold.

Though a seemingly small admission, I find this to be a significant development in dealing with the phenomenon of Trumpism. What Trump does effectively is that he lures you in to hear more extremist ideas with an intonation and delivery that he uses for causal, joking conversation. He has a good change up. He uses the same tone to call Jeb Bush ‘low energy’ as he does to introduce permissive talk about police brutality or sexual assault. He is a very effective manipulator.

People are starting to figure out his rhythm and are pushing back. That SH Sanders acknowledged it and conceded the point is a sign that even conservative leaning audiences are starting to feel self conscious about too close an association with a vile human being. The #resistance has been unvarnished in its criticism of Trump, and that has made some Trumpers more defensive and gradually self-reflective; these trends are important to beating them at the ballot box.

What kind of fuckstick moron U.S. President actually jokes about police brutality in public on a stage?
Oh yeah, that president.

Well, Miss Sarah can certainly lie with a straight face. This one should have been too much for even her.

Yeah, and Booth only shot Lincoln because the third act of the play at Ford’s Theater was really dragging on.

Yeah, right. It’s only a joke for someone with a sick, deranged sense of humor. For a president to say something like that is unforgivable.

Trump, you are morally bereft. You have no understanding of the rule of law or of your own power as president. You are nothing but a thug.

Our pr*sident is a guy at the end of the bar who spews all sorts of obnoxious racist, sexist bullshit for hours who, when you finally call him on it, backtracks and says “I was just joking, jeeze, don’t you have a sense of humor.”

The only people with whom this act doesn’t get old fast are similarly deplorable cretins. Yes, I’m talking to you, Trump supporters.

It was just a joke.

My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.

and

Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran.

Hmm… I don’t recall Democrats ever making murderous jokes.

Remember, conservatives aren’t funny. It’s time they learned that.

Damn. I didn’t get it. I’ll do better with next joke.

Such a joke that police departments around the country did more than distance themselves -they disavowed it and fast. The rank and file clapped. It is never funny to joke about police brutality -never. That speech was part of a long week of bad judgement and abject stupidity.
