Discussion: WH: Trump Was 'Making A Joke' When He Cited Wikileaks Dozens Of Times In '16

The only joke in the scenario is Trump.

Whenever trump “jokes” I always respond: “Yeah, well, do quit your day job, buddy!”

Yeah, and the joke was on us.

Humorless liberals
Kind of like Ann Coulter is a stand-up comic (a standard defense of her on the right).

Sooo many lies to unpack by Suckabee Sanders today.

It was no joke that Trump “loves Wikileaks” not dozens, but 140-160 times in 2016 (Politifact)

“our administration is the only one who has done anything about [Assange]”

The case against Assange started in 2010 under Obama, you dumb cracker.
Sealed indictments were admitted to in 2012 and 2013 and an international ‘manhunt’ forced Assange into hiding in the embassy in 2012, you dumb cracker.

“Clearly the President was making a joke during the 2016 campaign, certainly we take this seriously”

The key word here that unlocks the bullshit of the statement is “clearly”. Clearly to whom? And by what criterion should it be considered clear? Trump never said he was joking at the time or since. What he has done is claim that he knows nothing about Wikileaks or Assange. Why didn’t he say he was joking, instead? So what we have here is another one of Sarah’s post hoc postulates. Or as my Cornish Gran used to say: “Any excuse is better than none.”

That is the kind of stuff I think would shut Chump right up, either on Twitter
or from a reporter or question asker
or during a debate from his opponent.

Donald, how did you avoid prison all your earlier life?
Donald, how are most americans supposed to interpret your desperate gamble to win a 2nd term in order to avoid prison?
Donald, would you accept a slight reduction in your prison terms, if you would participate in our Prisoner Exchange Program with Mexico? It would probably open your eyes and do you some good.

Have you met any White Evangelicals, or cultists of any philosophy? They don’t go gently into that goodnight, they’ll rage, rage against the dying of the orange light.

I never tire of this anonymous quote from a psych professional:

Trump is aware that there are other views of reality than his own. The narcissistic project is to argue, charm, bully the world into accepting his view of reality, including but also going beyond his grandiose view of self. Insisting on this view leads others to mistake his aberrance for lying.

Yes the whole Stone investigation is tied to Wikileaks and Chump’s encouragements. No reason for Chump to start distancing himself unless something is coming down the pike.

OMG. That is the best they could come up with? Once again the WH and it’s occupant prove to us how unfit, unhinged and unworthy they are. Let’s kick these a$$holes to the curb in 2020.

We have the Finnish Parliamentary election results, with the result that the 200-person unicameral government will consist of 54% men and 46% women with an average age of 46. The winning parties were the labor party, the greens, and the left party. Guardian analysis in English here. The clear loser was the center agrarian party. The surprising survivors were the conservatives and the nativist Finn party. They do this by never touching any of the important policy portfolios. In forming the next government, we will see who takes to hot potato issues (climate change, pensions, healthcare, education, labor markets). American Democrats can probably derive some important lessons from this petri-dish-sized result. First, positive messages of good policy are winners if kept simple. Second, the GOP can succeed in winning elections by doing nothing on the policy front and merely keeping the status quo. Third, the nativist component will not go away, but it may have peaked. They will stick with the old GOP guard because they are the only ones interested in making what they think is “policy”, usually in the form of regulatory misbehavior or presidential executive orders.

Wiki-Leaks was the stage-name of one of the prostitutes in Moscow.

Trump never heard of the website.

First rule of ‘joking’.

If you have to explain it was a joke
 it isn’t.

You’re probably right, but even aside from that, “it was a joke” is by far the lamest and most overused cover for statements you want forgotten. Outside of his gullible base, who believes it? Zilch, that’s who. It would have been more prudent to not comment on it at all.

I suspect that even now, there are some people in between the diehard supporters and people who will never support him, and I don’t think this lame-ass excuse moved anyone into the first group.
