More and more I think they should boycott the briefings until there’s a reasonable level of respect for objective reality. She simply tells one wild lie after another. It normalizes it even as they halfheartedly attempt to push back. Exactly once, after the birther renunciation/extended press tour of the new hotel, did they act in concert to say eff this ess. If I were a senior editor or producer I’d be talking this up. Or doing something. It’s intolerable in a democracy.

Their willingness to lie is the most dangerous aspect of this administration. It will take years to find out the truth about so many things that passed under the radar and amongst the noise, and that’s just the documentation that survives this administration and isn’t destroyed.

For her sake, I hope she correctly nailed that claim, but considering this timeline’s history.

We might have the highest corporate tax rate, but all the thousands of loopholes in the code mean nearly all corporations pay something much less than 35%. The average effective rate is about 22%. The problem is some companies don’t have the lobbyists needed to secure one of the loopholes. They do pay a high rate. The solution is to get rid of the loopholes and lower the top rate on all companies. That is a non starter because no company wants to give up its special tax deduction.

As to the claim that we are the highest taxed nation, that is simply wrong.
