Roll the video----DUH!

Hey, you can’t blame the agents. They’re just gearing up for Sicherheitspolizei duty once Trump takes office.

I’m sorry but the SS is NOT a private police force for the candidates. They are there as a bodyguard. This BS of Trump corralling the press to a certain little space that he then points to and laughs and incites the ‘party faithful’ and then expecting the SS to ensure they don’t step out of that area is CRAP. This is REALLY taxpayer dollars that he’s manipulating while whining about that ol ‘big guvmint’…

The SS guy needs to be fired. I know what I saw in the full video and my eyes don’t lie. The man used excessive force and was working like some kind of sympathetic goon for the tRump campaign instead of doing his job. He should have been acting as an agent as part of a protective detail for the candidate, not going after the press unless they posed a direct threat to tRump…which the photographer clearly did not. Going after the press is not his job and restricting 1st Amendment rights is not his job either. Those press pens are disgusting to start off with, and should be eliminated if the forums are public events. With private events the candidate can do as he chooses in setting up the arrangement with the press…but public ones should be open to all, with free movement by the press not restricted by the tRump organizers.

Here let me help. The agent committed assault against the reporter because he said “fuck you”. Unacceptable

Eerily looked like some brown shirt performance art.

Notice: I’m suspending Godwin’s Law for the next 8 months or- God help us all- longer.

I have dealt with Secret Service many times at many events, including traveling on a candidate’s planes. I have never seen them act as personal security for a candidate. If the campaign wants media to be in a certain place, that’s between the candidate’s staff and the media…SS has nothing to do with it. At least they didn’t used to. Maybe some of these guys…basically high ranking cops, are really getting into working for Trump and want to help him anyway they can, including by intimidating the media. Once elected, the candidate gets to choose which agents get the cushy jobs at the White House.

I agree. It’s unacceptable for the agent to have overreacted to some protected language, regardless of how offensive he might have found it.

If this SS agent gets fired or reprimanded for his behavior, how long will it be before Trump hires him as part of his personal security team, and he receives a hero’s welcome from Trump’s delusional supporters?

Fire him and file assault charges.

This is what happens when Trump points at the corral, laughs, and derides the media and shows them to his audience as a TARGET to vent their hatred at. Trump benefits from the media coverage good, bad, or indifferent. He cares not. His goon base loves it. As he himself said he could stand in 5th ave and shoot someone and he’d gain votes and admirers.
edit
As you saw in the video there was a crowd being hustled out of the rally. This photog moved and the SS agent was ready and primed to pounce. And he did to add his muscle to the other agents moving folks out. Certainly this guy’s behavior needs to be investigated. And if warranted he should be fired.

I think it’s a little worse than this one instance. It was also Secret Service who asked a group of 30 black college students attending a Trump rally at their college to leave the premises before the rally began and at the request of Trump’s staff. The students were apparently standing quietly. That should NOT be the job of the secret service whatsoever, particularly when there’s no event or candidate safety or security issue involved.

Seems like there are two separate issues here that both need addressing. First is the use of USSS as personal enforcers instead of as the protection of the candidate. USSS being assigned to enforce “media corals” is outrageous and twisted. That’s the bigger issue overall here.

The bigger issue specifically with this incident seems to be a USSS agent abusing his authority and acting out of personal offense to his ego. Choke-slamming a reporter for telling you to fuck off is not appropriate regardless of what badge you are wearing. I’m entirely speculating (based on the info available, which is not insignificant, but still speculating), but it seems this guy did not like his authority being ignored and asserted himself as a bully to send a message.

Both issues need to be addressed.

More important is the “penning” of the press and their inability to even move freely about.

And what are they doing assisting the removal of black students from another rally? SS got some planin to do!

THANK YOU!!! I know that’s what I want addressed! The SS guy was clearly out of line, even though I agree using SS as media control is bullshit. But having the SS remove non-violent, non-protesting people just because they were black (and then saying SS did it without any orders from #MakeDonaldDrumpfAgain) is egregious, and must be repeatedly called out.

Actually that is breaking news, post 8, The people that removed the black students have been found to be Trump operatives. So, this attack on a Time mag photog is a one off.

Why are Secret Service agents guarding the pen? I thought they were supposed to guard the candidate. It bothers me if they are taking orders from the candidate who doesn’t know shit about how he should be guarded. Slamming a photographer to the ground 1 or 2 feet outside the “pen” and the candidate not in the proximity is assault, not protection.

Secret Service is using taxpayers’ money to do their job, so there should be standards any candidate has to meet to have Secret Service protection. One of those standards must be that there is no “press pen.” Another standard must be that peaceful attendees of all colors and religions are welcome. If a candidate isn’t willing to meet these basic Constitutional guarantees then the US taxpayers obviously shouldn’t be paying for SS protection!
