Closing the border would tank the US economy as well as Mexico’s. It would make patently clear Trump’s lack of understanding about just about anything: trade, the US economy, the global
economy and foreign relations, for a start. And his action to shut down aid to the countries from which so many are fleeing will only make things in those countries worse resulting in more people wanting to leave.
Of course the WH is going bananas. Except for the many trolls who slavishly follow him. I do wonder what Kellyanne, Miller, Jared, Mulvaney and SHS are saying to him. Not to mention Hannity etc. at Fox.

Trump will tweet that every mayor along the border is secretly begging him to close it. And if he closes it he'll tweet that the border towns are getting rich because now they don't have to deal with migrants, and all the mayors are thanking him profusely. He'll tweet within hours of closing it the flow of migrants has trickled to almost nothing. Illegal drugs will be a thing of the past, their flow is now totally stopped.
Of course, after telling all those lies the media will press admin officials if all that is true, and closing the border was all that was needed, why do we need a wall?

I wish I could make my point with clarity here, but INAL, much less a constitutional one. As I understand RBG in regards to Roe, her point was the law was not made strong enough to protect it from the attacks it has suffered over the years and only congress can fix that. Wouldn’t that apply to most laws passed by congress? I defer to those more well versed on this, but that’s what I recall from RBG on that one issue.
If you listen to the lawyers, they always claim that the Supremes are impartial, that they just rule on the merits of the law within the confines of the Constitution…
Whereas back in reality, in nearly every significant case, we can project the outcome with alarming accuracy based on the politics of it.
So, yeah, I’d expect any laws that a Democratic Congress and President passes which annoys the Republicans will find a lawsuit in short order and a 5-4 overturning of said law.
