Discussion: WH Refuses To Sign Post-Christchurch Agreement To Crack Down On Hate Speech

Good white supremacists should not be censored.

Let’s face it Trump’s principal supporters are white nationalists. He can’t say a word about white nationalist hate speech without offending his base. The racist white supremacists might not vote for him. Some of them might even leave his administration. What would he do without Stephen Miller?

Meanwhile, Trump could lynch someone and it would be no damned business of Congress to look into it.

“we maintain that the best tool to defeat terrorist speech is productive speech”

Isn’t the international agreement some kind of productive speech?

“We continue to be proactive in our efforts to counter terrorist content online while also continuing to respect freedom of expression and freedom of the press,” the White House said. “Further, we maintain that the best tool to defeat terrorist speech is productive speech, and thus we emphasize the importance of promoting credible, alternative narratives as the primary means by which we can defeat terrorist messaging.”

“while also continuing to respect freedom of expression and freedom of the press”

As long as that freedom is exercised by Trump supporters and right-wing extremists. And Fox news.

If we endorsed it, Republicans would be wiped off the internet, starting with the orangutan.

The White House told the Washington Post that it’s “not currently in a position to join the endorsement.”

Alternative facts, alternative narratives, and now we’re living in an alternative universe.

I’d like a citation of who actually wrote this dribble.

I’m willing to bet a soda that Nanny Conway wrote it.

Yeah, they’re in a position alright—like over a barrel. Everything they say seems like hate speech. If they signed on they’d have to remain silent. Wouldn’t that be nice.

First intellectually honest thing they’ve done.

Of course the WH refuses. This is their stock in trade. Why would they actively speak out against hate speech when it’s all they really do.

That’s like asking Congress to set term limits for Congresscritters. Never gonna happen.

“You are trying to steal our First Amendment rights! If it wasn’t for hate speech, we wouldn’t have anything to say at all.”

Multiple distinctions without a difference.

Realy? A senior aide to the President doing SHS’s job? Well I guess Nanny Conway didn’t have to find a face to put on to present this dribble, so that’s OK.
