OH NOES! It was supposed to be a secret and the bigly plans were leaked. 5 will get you 10 the leak came from the military.
Apparently there has been some push back. The bad optics of Cadet Bone Spur reviewing his troops is finally setting in. The damn stunt makes him look like the wacko in North Korea.
“When asked whether it was true that Trump’s request was more of a directive than a question”
Oh, well, it was just a stupid question, not a stupid command, so all good.
Yes, there are stupid questions. The only absolute is that there are no absolutes.
Actually, this much has been decided.
And make no mistake: the military parade is as much for the “benefit” of us unAmerican dissenters as it is for North Korea’s.
“When CNN’s Pamela Brown asked why Trump doesn’t just visit the troops in Iraq or Afghanistan instead of putting on a show,”
Dear Pam:
Visiting the troops in Afghanistan and/or Iraq would be nothing but a show.

“I think we’re all aware in this country of the President’s affection and respect for the military,” Defense Secretary James Mattis said

I think I see the signs of heel spurs, even at this tender age.
Mattis: “I think we’re all aware in this country of the President’s affection and respect for the military…”
“…excluding John McCain, of course.”
“And Capt. Khan’s parents.”
“Plus Sgt. La David Johnson’s pregnant widow.”
“Did I mention the 10,000 Dreamer veterans that he’s about to deport?”
Of course they’re downplaying it. They do it when he gets universal pushback.
I like the way Sanders said that the “entire country” could come together to show support. You know what this means: just as they know who didn’t clap at the SOTU, they will also know who doesn’t attend the parade. Don’t say you haven’t been warned. Clap, damn you!
Borowitz nails it
Military Refuses to Participate in Trump’s Parade, Citing Bone Spurs
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The Pentagon has turned down Donald J. Trump’s request for a grand military parade in Washington, D.C., citing a sudden outbreak of bone spurs that would prevent men and women in uniform from participating.
Harland Dorrinson, a Pentagon spokesman, said that, within an hour of Trump’s request, more than a hundred thousand military personnel complained that they were suffering from acute cases of bone spurs that would make marching in such a parade a painful ordeal.
“In the history of the U.S. military, we have never experienced a bone-spur epidemic of this magnitude,” the spokesman said. “Regrettably, however, we have no choice but to issue thousands of deferments.”
A statement from the bone-spur sufferers said that they would continue to valiantly serve their country around the world in a non-marching capacity, and offered an alternative to their participation in Trump’s proposed pageant.
“President Trump is welcome to march in the parade all by himself if he would finally like to enlist,” the statement read.
I want the parade as long as there is a special unit of all those loud mouthed draft age punks, who supported Trump, that have joined up since the election.
Also all the parents and grandparents who escorted their kin to the enlistment center in the name of Trump and make America great again.
Trump should proudly march in front of these two units along with the Repubs who have not yet pushed enlistment of the Trumpettes.
Trump and Melania could head up the contigent from the Hand Swatting Corps.
"The President is exploring different ways that he could highlight and show the pride we have in the military, people that have served and sacrificed to allow us all the freedoms we have.”
Patriotism is more than pride in the military. Patriotism means showing respect to the Constitution and the rule of law. Patriotism means taking care of Vets who endure the physical and emotional scars of war. Standing up to the President, disagreeing with the President is patriotic and our duty. Every year we celebrate our military on Veteran’s Day. We don’t need a show put on for the ego gratification of President Bone Spurs.
“I think we’re all aware in this country of the President’s affection and respect for the military,”
Some ex general was on NPR this morning calling bullshit on this. He said donnie’s parade has nothing to do with honoring the military and everything to do with feeding his fragile ego. Sorry, I didn’t get his name, but he sounded disgusted.
Course, we all know this, but it’s nice to hear it said on public radio.
They’re hoping he forgets.
And he probably will.
I wonder who really, truly is in charge right now.
‘You KNOW how Donnie like his parades!’ HONEST TO GOD…is this what we’ve come to?
I used to talk like that around people. Somehow salesmen from a local car dealership got the idea I was interested in buying a van, always coming around to show one off.
What am I going to do with the 2.000 t-shirts I had printed:
Support the Troops
Not Cadet Bone Spurs
