the slow drip of leaked information about that investigation is the “real story.”
other than the fact that the leaks show the need for an investigation, yeah, the existence of the leaks is a real story.
The Trump people may be on to something. If they thought this hearing went well for them, then every day must truly be a sunny, sunny day.
Winning.
The Trump apologists may actually have a point. The leaks ARE the real story…and we should be thankful for them. After all, we keep getting fake stories from the White House.
If Trump had not asked, he would deny the story. Thus Trump asked.
Now given that Trump asked, and that Coats did not resign, one should be suspicious. Coats could have said something like
" I will not comment on private conversations with the President. In general, we do not interfere in FBI counterintelligence investigations for political reasons."
Leaks are only “bad” for this administration if they are true. It may be wrong to leak the stories we are getting but it’s worth noting those stories are rarely denied while their sources are condemned. I’m waiting for the leakers to start getting courageous enough to step out of the shadows. This is a crisis that needs heroes. And, we need them now!
“Brennan testified before the House Intelligence Committee that evidence of those contacts troubled his agency enough to prompt a major federal investigation…”
Ah, the succulent taste of sweet, sweet schadenfreude.
That wiretapping authority the GOP rammed through under W…?
While endlessly parroting, “If you don’t have anything to hide, you don’t have anything to worry about"…?
I guess Republicans actually do have something to hide.
And a lot to worry about.
If it weren’t for the leak to the WaPo, the corrupt and compromised Flynn would still be NSA Advisor and doing Turkey’s bidding and nixing raids on ISIS at their request.
despite a year of investigation, there is still no evidence of any Russia-Trump campaign collusion, that the President never jeopardized intelligence sources or sharing.
Now why would they try and conflate the two issues, is it hitting too close to home? Shouldn’t Congressional Republicans be evoking the Benghazi Doctrine? Hell, by cutting Trump loose and having nothing but hearings they might even be able to create enough of a circus to keep them from bleeding their majorities away at the next election.
…and that’s the truth… an inconvenient, depressing, terrifying, ugly truth.
Mark Felt was a leaker.
This IS the Trump administration, not sure there is any hero potential available but we may be surprised.
There is no evidence is not the same as it didn"t happen. Weasel words.
Actually, I think this is a fairly sophisticated attempt to spin. Much more effort that they usually put into it for their base’s delectation . Maybe they had help from…Fox? Mercer Corp.?
The big error was adding info they did not need to: “the President never jeopardized intelligence sources or sharing” OK, what about before he was President?
{edits for grammar and spelling. gee I wish I had a staff for this)
OK, so Trixon is coming back from Europe to fire all the leakers in the WH. NOw, leakers won’t be the problem anymore!
Wanna bet?
Imagine the rf-ing that’s going on in that Snake Pit in the name of leak prevention.
Trump: “Ah, but the LEAKS. That is where I caught them! I proved with…with…geometric logic that a duplicate key existed to the Oval Office!..and I would have caught them too if not for the actions of disloyal Officers within the Intel community who opposed me at every turn!”
The Trump people may on something…
FIFY.
True, but while they all may be crazy, not all of them are batshit crazy. Comey, for instance.
Maybe somebody with a JD could explain the difference between “evidence” and “proof” to the GOP.
We have tons of evidence (circumstantial, etc.) that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.
Poor schlimazels are convicted every day on less “evidence”.
We might not have “proof” – yet – but we’ve got evidence out the wazoo…
Yes sir, there is a bit of rust on that chassis and you can always put a piece of plywood over that hole in the trunk, but lookie here, at the stereo. AM/FM 8 Track and memory buttons.
Damn, enough! Make the bad men go away!
