Discussion: West Virginia Legislators Eye Measures To End 9-Day Teacher Strike

When will red-state working poor begin to realize the Republican party hates them?

It’s not about economics anymore, it’s all about racism.

The Republican party sees poor people as little more than cannon fodder. They sell em a bill of goods at every turn, and abandon them when they need something, even the barest essentials. To the Republican mind, the poor are poor because they deserve it.

Pay raises? the legislature is finally going to act to raise teacher pay???

Almost none of the articles on this have mentioned that the teachers themselves rejected even the 5% pay raise that their union agreed to, because it didn’t deal with their soaring health insurance costs.

It sounds like the Senate just wanted to stick it in the eye of teachers by reducing the contract 1%. Sheer spite.

Congraulations Teachers, but this makes me even happier… Way fucking happier…

ā€œIn a letter to President Donald Trump, Kerner said he is referring her violations for the President’s ā€˜consideration of appropriate disciplinary action’.ā€

The President will think of a suitable punishment. Maybe ten rounds on Fox.

Dear AP:

Why do legislators have to ā€œfind a compromiseā€? This contract offer is already a compromise. It’s all about the WV senate trying to save face and putting the pain onto students and teachers. And no, when you’ve screwed up so obviously already, you don’t get to ask people to go back to work while you play around with the numbers. (Hmm. Maybe they could ā€œtemporarilyā€ adopt the new numbers till the end of this fiscal year, and appoint a study commission for subsequent years.)

Hopefully the teachers will stay out as long as needed to achieve their demands. What the State Senate forgets is that WV has a long history of Unions fighting for their due.
