In many ways, she’s worse. She’ll affect far more people directly because so many cases before her will never be appealed or will not result in reversals because of the deference given trial judges in factual findings. She can seriously damage people’s lives. Putting someone with her history on the court is yet another insult to the rule of law - and a further demonstration of McConnell’s vile partisan biases as well.

Why, TPM, are you using the term “pro-life”???
These people are not pro-life - they are anti-abortion - they are opposed to women’s right to making their own medical decisions and they are in favor or imposing their religious interpretation of the beginning of human life on all the rest of us. The same people who claim to be “pro-life” are usually big supporters of the death penalty, of wars of choice, of depriving the poor of life-saving support systems and so on.
To use their term, “pro life” is to imply that people who favor the rights of women are somehow “anti-life” which is complete nonsense.
Words matter. These words matter a lot.

TPM may get full of umbrage and outrage but is moving more to ‘mainstream’ as it grows, and as its new format becomes more popular. TPM is in a place/space where it wants to be right now. You’ll see more of these word choices in the future. “Going Vanilla” as it’s said of corporate growth, smoothing out the edges to greater profitability.

She is in the same position that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh had until recently. But it doesn’t matter, is either her or someone else just like her, McConnell and the Federalist Society are making sure that the courts are packed with judges that are right wing ideologues or corruptible by power or money (Kavanaugh fits both bills) for the next 20 years.
It’s about time to stop thinking “the courts will stop Trump” or “the courts will protect roe” or voting rights or whatever, and start thinking of direct action, and yes people will get hurt and badly. But is either that, or women back in the kitchen, gays back in the closet, blacks back in the fields, and free hand for plutocrats to destroy the environment and exploit the work force.

It’s directly analogous to the southern reaction and violent resistance to Reconstruction. The sight of a black person in a position of political power is just too much for these white people.
Is it too much to expect this article to say whether Vitter will be a federal judge of a district court or a circuit court? I am guessing that it a district court because the article does say she will be a judge in Louisiana, but this is basic information that should be stated clearly and not left to guesswork.

I’m thinking mostly double White Russians (850 calories a pop).
