Interesting article, Lauren – but how about proofreading your work before you post it? I’ve never seen so many typos in a TPM article.

So, you have no idea what will happen eh?

I don’t think this scenario has sunk in yet for the GOP —

Can’t wait for it to though — ( heading out for popcorn stock up )

I hope posting this piece before knowing the results of today’s voting doesn’t come back to bite you in the ass, TPM.

the Republican Party’s best chance to take back the Whitehouse

I don’t think Sheldon’s changing parties any time soon.

In genearl, it seems that Lauren is no knowing the establilshed rules of English orthography.

Not just typos, but basic style conventions:

A CNN poll of registered voters nationally released Tuesday reveals what establishment Republicans have always been fearful of; Trump is a liability for the party.

Hey, look! I used a semicolon. (In a completely bogus way.)

The share of the minority vote is expected to be the largest in history, Pew predicts – a numbers advantage for Democrats regardless of if Trump was the nominee–

“Of if”?

I can understand an occasional typo or infelicity of style in daily journalism done under deadline pressure, but TPM has made a house style of this sort of thing. It’s embarrassing.

Well, I see points 1 & 2. Not numbering the other 3?

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell…allegedly told
members “we’ll drop him like a hot rock” if that is what it takes to protect vulnerable senators.”

What McConnell conveniently ignores is that even if they “drop him like a rock”, the effect of a Trump name at the top of the GOP ballot will likely drag down the rest of the GOP candidates on their ballot.

Trump’s “dog whistle politics?” If he were only dog whistling, the Republican establishment would be much happier.
Do you know what “dog whistle politics” is?

Moving beyond typos to substance, here’s my input. Every four years we hear about angry white working class voters and how they may throw the election to the Republicans. But, it seems to me that the reporters (and pollsters) never ask these angry white workers - who are voting Republican - who they voted for in the last presidential race (or races). There would be a big difference, electorally, if these folks had voted for Obama in the past and now were turning Republican. But if these are the same old angry voters who have been voting Republican all along, what difference does it make if they angrily vote Republican again this year. It seems to me to be malpractice by both reporters and pollsters to not get answers to these questions.

There’s plenty of baggage for Trump to harp on for Clinton, valid or not. I think the key will be whether or not the race devolves into Clinton trying to respond to his provocations the way Republicans have tried and failed to this year or if she successfully declines to engage and makes it about the country.

“loose cannon, anti-establishment, David Duke-backed Donald Trump”

That’s a lot better than “boisterous billionaire” but you left out the part about “aspiring war criminal” – and that’s a point too important to forget.

Trump’s dog whistling is for the very hard of hearing canine.

With Clinton this means we have a ONE party system:

  • Clinton is NOT a Democrat and neither was hubby Bill - they are moderate Republicans and NOT fighters for the bottom 90%.

  • With Trump we get a Republican who’s very honest and transparent about what the Republican party is all about and what they have always said behind closed doors.

Something that Lauren doesn’t mention–The Bernie voters. Will they sit on their hands and stay home when Hillary is nominated?

Mitch is bullshitting! Like every other RepubliKKKlan, once Trump is coronated by the Party in Cleveland, he and every other Republican apparatchik will fall in line and use every dirty trick in the book to get him in the White House.

The Republican field was stocked with accomplished governors and young, energetic senators who gave face to the younger wing of the party.

What absolute nonsense. Here again we have Lauren Fox using RNC talking points. This seems to be a trend for her. If I want to read this nonsense, I’d stay with CNN.
