“All of us who are in the room right now are midwives for transformation,” said Rukia Lumumba

I love these women.

“…black women were looked to, to bail out Democrats…"

They weren’t looked to to bail out Democrats. This is what they were looked to for:

“If we can shift the power to get black women to show up for every election, we can do some amazing things."

Gotta show up for every election. So do their Hispanic sisters and young people. You don’t get shiite if you don’t vote.

Black women representing every state, every congressional district, every state legislative district, every city mayoralty, every judgeship AND the White House is the best thing that could ever happen to this country.

Especially at Mid Terms.

And by committing to the Party, you get a seat at the policy making table.

When I find myself getting down about the prospect of dragging this man-baby out of the oval office while he’s clutching at the walls and trying to drag the whole country down with him, I try to remember the people who have gotten back up after being knocked down… and gotten up again… and gotten up again and continued to show up with hope and determination that this country can do better to live up to its potential.

I’ve had that thought—all you have to look at is the civil rights movement in our lifetime. They dealt with far worse than anything we’re likely to encounter at this point. Anyway just came from the grand opening of the local Democratic campaign office last night. Fired up! Ready to go!

This is wonderful. If they turn out the vote - o my god we win. We always win when our base - African American voters - turns out.

Senator Doug Jones, Democrat from Alabama, is nodding vigorously at what you say from all the way across the room.

hahahahahahahahahahaha

He struck a nerve with that like I thought he would. I read a piece on Rawstory yesterday that is gone now but a lawyer from Alabama took great umbrage at what Trump said about Sessions and southern lawyers.

And he keeps doing it - he talked about dumb southerners again last night in Montana. I’m sure the people in Montana love it but his voter base in the south is pissed = at least some of them.

Winning back the honor to govern is crucial. I am so proud and glad that these wonderful smart women are at work doing these beautiful things. White people, very often so entitled we barely notice, can take a moment and consider how to help.

African American women are going to be the saviors of this country. A tweet we should all take to heart:

Dear Tom P. — Once Black women deliver the House (and possibly the Senate), they deserve not just a seat at the table, but should also be deciding on the menu.

If we can shift the power to get black women to show up for every election, we can do some amazing things.

This is what Republicans have been fighting against- high voter turnout, especially African American voter turnout. The Democrats need to fight this at every turn. It is supporting the most reliable Democratic voting block, and in turn, protecting everyone’s right to vote.

NC Republicans are still fighting court rulings from the 2016 election because they substituted race for political party and fought they could suppress a lot of Democratic votes by making it harder for African Americans to vote. Watch what happens in Georgia now that an African American woman is a heartbeat away from becoming governor…
