Discussion: WATCH: 'The View' Hosts Feel Really Uncomfortable Discussing Bill Cosby Rape Allegations

Billo refuses to discuss.

From a psychological perspective it makes sense to me. He was always the one talking down to people who made scandalous choices - like when Lisa Bonet did that NC 17 movie he basically disowned her and smeared her name all over the tabloids. The louder you voice your condemnation of others the more likely it is that you’re the morally corrupt one.

This is not surprising to me, because I feel the same. I grew up hearing and then seeing Bill Cosby. He made me laugh so much, I want to with hold judgement. I agree, it’s devastating, true or false. I don’t doubt that there are people who would make these kinds of accusations for financial gain. That was the first thing I thought of when I heard about the first woman. And I don’t doubt that a lot of young women who slept with celebrities, in the hopes of furthering their careers, who regret it now. I’m not sure I consider that rape, however.

I think it’s more vague than that. I think he probably got loaded and slept with a lot of young women. How old were they? 18, 19? The only one I heard speak, said she consented, and in fact, went back for more. I’m not quite as old as Bill Cosby, but I was a child of the 70’s. What I’ve heard so far, sounds like something I could claim: I got stoned and had sex with my 20 year old boyfriend when I was 17. It was entirely consensual. But because I was a teenager, and didn’t know what I was doing, I could claim he raped me. If he was rich and famous, I could sue him and claim he raped me and it ruined my life because my self esteem was so damaged that I wasn’t able to achieve my potential.

What happened to these allegations when they were brought up in the past?

Do you think that lawyers have a vested interest in finding these women? Of course they do. The casting couch is nothing new in Hollywood. I would consider his actions vile and disgusting and I would be disappointed in him if he took advantage of his celebrity in such a way, but I am not sure that I would call it rape. I think there is a difference between coercion and force. Because of his celebrity, we may never know what really happened, and that is outrageous. I am not a misogynist. I just believe in the assumption of innocence until proven guilty: for everyone.

Until he is proven guilty I and others will gladly carry his water. Especially since all FOURTEEN women and the “actress” never filed charges…what is that about anyway?

Hear Hear! Sad that others are merrily denigrating him in lieu of hard evidence.

Who made you jury and judge anyway Dawn_Rainbow? Ohh! You were there! Yes that’s it!!

It’s high time you got current. And BTW. I turned three men under my command over to civilian authorities to be prosecuted on rape charges back in 1989. Because there was evidence…

A girlfriend was gang raped when I was in High school. I have zero tolerance. And I don’t act on hear-say or conjectural evidence, not on any fricking thing.

Zealots are as worrisome as purists and fundamentalists to me.

Cosby should’ve spoken plainly about this when he had the chance. It would’ve been better for everyone. Just tell the frickin’ truth and eat a frickin’ Jell-O Pudding Pop.

When he had the chance? You mean when he did it? Uh, spending all or most of his life behind bars might have been a problem.

How odd. We have this Gruber guy who is flatly calling voters stupid and declaring that the Democrats couldn’t pass Obamacare without duping the CBO, and these twits on some stupid daytime talk show have to stress over some unfounded allegations against one of the most respected African-Americans in the nation. I don’t get it.

I don’t even understand what that means. If the man got away with victimizing women, why should he not pay for it? Because he’s old? All’s forgiven?

It’s very difficult to talk about something with a foot in the mouth.

After he gets out of jail.

The fact that “you don’t get it” is painfully obvious.

No, Cosby should have done what Cosby is doing…shut the hell up. His talking about this would benefit him in no way whatsoever.

Person X claims that Person Y raped them 30 years ago when X was 20 and Y was 50. I’m pretty sure that there is not going to be any evidence now.

There probably was no evidence then which is why Y was never charged much less 30 years later.
