This was probably a mistake by Trump as the base recognizes and appreciates Sessions as a fellow traveler down the river of racism. It also lends credence to previous reports of Trump mocking Sessionsā accent, which, of course, he had denied (lied about).
Further proof that rightwingers have no principles except for one. You can be a philanderer, a child molester, an aspiring dictator, an offensive foul-mouthed cretin, a tax cheat, a schoolyard bully, a serial liar, a fair-weather patriot, a con artist, a numbskulled idiot, a Nazi-KKK sympathizer, an appeaser, and a petty criminalā¦but as long as people with actual principles are pissed off at you for any reason, then youāre OK with the right and theyāre more than willing to look the other way. That for them is the only abiding principle.

And today, Southerners abound who hate Trump.
You really canāt overstate how much southerners donāt like being laughed at as hayseeds who talk funny. Not by wise guys from NYC. Not by anybody.

I speak as someone that did have a slight southern accent until I moved out west and ditched it.
I can never understand why the tRumpās comments about Sessions recusal donāt get more pushback. How was he supposed to tell tRump in advance he would recuse himself from oversight of an investigation that didnāt start until months after he had been chosen and confirmed in the position.
Was Sessions supposed to be some kind of clairvoyant?
Yes, and farmers hate tariff wars and people hate going without health insurance, and patriots donāt like countries that have thousands of nukes aimed at us, etc.
Iām not sure if the various insults and hardships coming from Trumpp and his policies will matter as long as Trumpp still has them believing that he is helping to defend white Christiansāespecially malesāagainst the hordes. If his supporters believe he has become ineffective at defending/restoring their fantasy version of America, those grievances will come in handy.
But itās taken them some time to figure out that Trump is one them there āelitesā and a damn āYankee eliteā at that.
Because each and every one that Trump lets into the inner circle must throw their body on a grenade for him. Weāll now see how the Children will act under questioning.
He was supposed to pledge unconditional loyalty to the person of Donald Trump, thatās what he was supposed to do. The sad, awful specimen currently occupying the White House expects that from all āhisā people. The idea that someone might be loyal to someone or something else, say for example the constitutional order, still catches him by surprise. He appears incapable of learning at this point.
Iām not arguing his base will abandon him instantly over this. Iām arguing that heās a fucking oaf.
