Discussion for article #229131

This is like a PSA about the dangers of using lead paint in the home.

These two are consistent a-holes so nothing new there. That being said, why are so many conservatives so narcissistic? How can everything that happens is the world, be evidence of plots against you?

I don’t know if we have any psych clinicians among the regulars here to comment on this but I’ve heard delusional people, I mean really sick people, talk in this same very casual way about the craziest, most implausible things as if they were obvious to everyone. Your brain on ODS, man. Not a pretty thing.

This shit is hardly worth commenting on, except to say that it amazes me the number of moron assholes who seem to be front men for the Republican Party.

icymi - this Esquire article on how extremists are destroying our democracy is pretty good.

I understand how the grift works but I can’t understand how people keep falling for it. It’s like going to the state fair every year just to see the bearded lady.

And here I thought Dumb and Dumber To was a movie sequel.

Do not be fooled. I started arguing with Steve King via my Iowa hometown paper’s letters columns long before most of you ever heard of him.

He will say anything. He does not give a shit if it’s true, as long as it can be played to his base. And he turns it all into fodder for his base, no matter how ridiculous his statements.

He is an instinctual, shameless, and unscrupulous huckster.

IMHO conservatism, once an anti-ideological viewpoint, has mutated into an ideology itself and has to explain the world simply, using just a few propositions. Life is not allowed to be random, unpredictable, and difficult to understand. Liberalism is like the Devil—it causes every bad thing. America is God, and is uniquely good. Everything else flows from that.

Making money off smart people: hard. Making money of ignorant people: easy.

Small though it may be, there is an up side to idiots like these. People I know who were hard core republicans, even tea partiers, have been encouraged to do some research and are turning away from the clown show, bringing others with them. True, the morons stay, but we don’t need them anyway. (Do you really want someone who would vote for Gohmert in the party?)

What!?! No mention of Putie by two of his biggest assh----…er, fans?

Didn’t we fight at least 2 wars so that we would never have Kings?

Gotta love the way King uses Trump as his stooge. Brilliant type casting.

As crazy as these two are, the amazing thing is that there are enough people, enough of a demographic who see them as their leaders, and would bring the Alien invaders to them if they landed in their back yards. How did this country ever get so completely nuts?

And why does the media capitalize on this nonsense, just because eyeballs will follow the trail of blood, and the ad execs will cut those checks? Just being a Congressman, or a real estate mogul, confers no credentials, and no credibility of any sort. What makes them any different than the homeless schizophrenics I see on the street with their block long rolls of butcher paper detailing all the mysterious connections that lie behind the spectacles we call modern history?
