Discussion: WATCH: Rosenstein Announces Indictments For Russian Election Meddling

Someone on TPM please help me understand. This is serious, but will it tend to deflect blame away from Trump and his cadre? By charging Russians, highlighting that they were staging demonstrations in favor of and against Trump, and that no Americans WILLINGLY participated in this fraud, PLEASE DON"T TELL ME THAT THIS ABSOLVES TRUMP and the GOP.

“no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this activity.”

‘In this indictment.’ Yeah. The next ones, though…

Oh, I don’t think so at all. This is the Deputy AG, to this lawyer’s ears, all but accusing the Trump campaign of treason.

it’s the closing of the circle around the treasonweasels.

Rosenstein, God love him, is enjoying this tremendously. We owe this man a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

I see Manafort’s fingerprints all over these events.

Individuals involved in the conspiracy traveled to and around the United States, visiting at least eight states, court papers show, and worked with an unidentified American. That person advised them to focus their efforts on what they viewed as “purple” election battleground states, including Colorado, Virginia and Florida, the indictment said.

From Josh’s blog

“By early to mid-2016, Defendants’ operations included supporting the presidential campaign of then-candidate Donald J. Trump (“Trump campaign”) and disparaging Hillary Clinton,” the indictment reads.

Can’t read comments on posts other users have left. I’d say HAL is at work.

It’s funny, over at Fox Fiction all the bobble heads think this sentence completely clears their Smart, Hard Working, Patriotic, Honest, Faithful, MAGA Leader.

These indictments certainly bring into question Trump’s blind acceptance of Putin’s denials.

Usually, when someone says “with all die respect…” the mean no such thing.
However in this case I would say with all due respect to Special Counsel Mueller (and his work has been impeccable and deftly handled out of the limelight) the new conference performance by Assistant Attorney General Rosenstein was off the charts!
He was direct, concise, precise in his language (“in this indictment…”) and clear.
He left no doubt that these still waters run deep, very deep.
I am so impressed with DOJ folks like RR and former DOJ staff e.g. Sally Yates.
Serious people all.

I suppose my point is, that as important as getting this information out is, I truly believe Rosenstein just got himself an ironclad life insurance policy with a great big poison pill rider in case of his untimely demise by the White House.
After today, they wouldn’t dare.
