if he was concerned having a Republican in the White House

If they can make it over the security fence they are welcome for a brief visit.

Based on the ā€˜presidentialā€™ treatment extended to Mrs. Clinton this morning by Charlie Rose, Iā€™d say CBS has decided a Democrat will succeed Mr. Obamaā€¦

You took the words right out of my pie hole, sir! The arrogance of this man predicting that HIS party will win the White House. His arrogance knows no bounds. Why, just the other day, he traveled around the pretending to speak on behalf of the American people! And he dares to show up at press conferences behind the PRESIDENTIAL SEAL! Heā€™s nominated federal judges and cabinet officers. Heā€™s VETOED legislation. Heā€™s slept in White House. We need someone with some modesty as our next president ā€“ like, say, Donald Trump.

Anthropogenic climate change has already caused the next ice age in about 50,000 years to not be possible. Thatā€™s how long all the CO2 and other greenhouse gas will last. What we see happening right now is not going to be over for a very long time. For Republicans to pretend nothing is going on amounts to suicide. Even the Dept. of Defense has pointed out that climate change will mean there will be no people left for them to kill.

Climate change is so 2010. We are in the Age of Humans now that we have and use our ability to disrupt the natural cycles that have made it possible for our species to exist. We need to be talking about survival strategy at this point.

The meeting will be cordial, brief and final.

But what about Orcs?

You sent me to the video and the text of the interview, and while he was mostly deferential he still seems to be of the both-sides-do-it mindset when he said

ā€œBut there you go attacking them. Thatā€™s not the way to do it,ā€

After she said

weā€™re in one of these periods where we have a minority within the other party that doesnā€™t believe in compromise, doesnā€™t believe in reaching consensus."

Whoever is elected President will have to decide whether they take heed of what the vast majority of climate scientists are telling us, and also what the Defense Department and our intelligence agencies are telling us, that climate change is a major threat to both our environment and our national security. I do wonder what any of the Republican candidates would do as President, when they are briefed by some of the worldā€™s leading scientists and by their own national security experts, and basically told that their climate-change denialism, while politically convenient, just doesnā€™t square with objective reality. Kill the messengers? Or just ignore them?

Hah. Thatā€™ll wig out the ODS seekers. I Love it. And heā€™s correct of course.
Nine out of 10 times, I gotta say, the man knows of what he speaks. That tenth time for me was the time he appointed Arne Duncan imo.

We have a President who says Climate Change is real

We have an opposing Party seeking the Presidency which says it is not

Sixty percent of the Electorate does not vote

Therefore 60% of the Electorate does not believe that the issue is worth addressing.

I truly believe that the Republicans are more sane at this point, because they truly (for whatever reason) believe that we are not in a Climate Change threat. Just like the British did not believe that Singapore could be captured by the Japanese in WWII. The British had a (military) rationale, just like the Republicans have a rationale (supported by junk science, prophecy, Right Wing think tanks, etc).

Non-voters are a little more insane:

They KNOW that Climate Change is real. They know it has severe implications.

And they STILL donā€™t give a **ck about voting. THATā€™S krazy.

There you go again paying attention to the words. (/s) They do count, but not as much as frills like the setting and the body language. Maybe Donald, even if no one convinces him we all imagine him sitting on the crapper, will finally see the short comings of phoner interviewsā€¦

ā€œJust with the respect to my successor ā€” let me first of all say that
Iā€™m anticipating a Democrat succeeding me,ā€ Obama replied to laughter.
ā€œIā€™m confident in the wisdom of the American people on that front.ā€
ā€¦
Iā€™m glad heā€™s confident. Given what Iā€™ve seen recently of my countrymanā€™s ā€œintelligenceā€ and proclivity to vote against their direct self interest and their ability to be baffled by bullshit, I am not nearly son confident in the election outcome.
