Discussion for article #236498
Damn Communists, get your own umbrellas instead of feeding off the government umbrellas…
Who reading this site is surprised? The President is a class act all the time.
I am sure reaction at some of the right wing sites will be less than kind.
This is why the right hates this President. He’s a normal, intelligent, thoughtful, classy person and all their attempts to paint him as some sort of radical fail. . . . . because he just isn’t . . . .and they hate him for it.
OH MY GOD WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS, DISRESPECTING THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT LIKE THAT!

If he weren’t a sexist, he’d let them get soaked. Probably refers to them using their first names, too.
The most wonderfulest president ever. Did I mention how handsome he is?
The girl in the light purple jacket appears to be holding an umbrella, wonder why she doesn’t use it? I often think some of the women who work for POTUS forget he isn’t their husband, and do seem to take some liberties. Can’t imagine Mrs Obama really appreciates sharing her husband. It does get to be too much. Call me possessive with my hubby, but I really couldn’t be as accommodating as Mrs Obama has been with women around her husband. I could never be a politicians wife.
Well he should! We all know who made it rain in the first place! Obama’s fault as usual.
UmbrellagateJarrettGhaziiiiii!!!
With a side of “condescending sexist disempowering women by stereotypical male act that deprives women of agency” for the far left.
“girl in the light purple jacket” is deputy chief of staff and is hardly a “girl”.
Examples, please.
My only surprise is that no one else is running over to give them more umbrellas.
Girl is one of those blanket descriptors I often use. Harmless habit I can’t seem to shake. An English as a second language thing I suppose. But that’s an umbrella in her hand right?
The First Lady has always shown that she “trusts” the President-- That act has been earned and is a sure sign of the President’s character and integrity-- One can only ascertain from your post that you do not share the same level of confidence with your husband-- I hope that whatever happened within your relationship can be repaired – Or are you just the “jealous type” ??
I wondered about that too. The White House knows when POTUS is landing, there should have been enough umbrellas awaiting his landing on the grounds. The trip scheduler should’ve had weather and any chances of rain, anticipated.
Seriously?
Obama has a real umbrella. She has one of those little toy things that the wind usually rips up. Regardless, the two ladies were together, he invited them under his umbrella, and they walked together to stay dry. How is that sharing her husband? Did he give them nice passionate kisses after? You would get jealous at your husband being a gentleman? Frankly, Michelle would probably get pissed off if he had NOT offered to help those ladies. And it has nothing to do with being a politician. A gentleman is a gentleman, regardless of profession.
Her comment was one of the most f’ed up things I have ever read on this site.
LIke I said, I’m one of those girls who’s a bit less willing to share my hubby. It might be a cultural thing, but there are certain gestures and levels of attention and intimacy reserved only for the spouse. But there doesn’t seem to be a distinction where there should be one, IMHO, and it can cause problems.
A simple gesture that makes me respect O even more. My favorite President of my 59 years.
