Discussion for article #237919

Great stuff. A bit too real and uplifting for CNN fare…

Emotional moment.

But the CNN twit couldn’t say “husband” could she… had to go with “partner”…?

Our President is a class act and a decent, caring human being.

I cringed when CNN eavesdropped on the phone call. Seemed inappropriate.

If Jim Obergefell wanted it to be private he wouldn’t have taken the call in speaker-mode. And I doubt the president had any expectation of privacy.

What a great moment… can’t believe I’m writing this >> “Thanks CNN”.

It’s kind of creepy that the President has everyone’s phone number.

Quite an addition to Obama’s legacy. Remembering back to 2008, at that time he had not “come out” in favor of equality, but Obama (and so many countless advocates) took it all the way in just 6.5 years to today, when the marriage rights of so many millions all over the nation are equal for all.

Small steps (like giant steps) will get you there too.

Very cool.

This brought tears to my eyes for that very brave and tireless, humble man. His name now goes down in history just like the names of Loving, Roe, Brown and so many others.

Actually, you can thank Vice President Joe Biden for this victory.
After all, it was his staunch and VOCAL support for gay marriage and gays serving in the military that dragged Obama, kicking and screaming (politically) into the light. Once he got there, Obama realized it was safe and then “evolved” quickly.
THANKS JOE!

True dat. But I think back to President Clinton 20 years ago and his Campaign against the prohibition of Gays serving in the Military. And I do not need to remind you of the Defense of Homophobia Marriage Act.

Sometimes the warmth of what you want is overshadowed by the cold hard facts of political reality.

Incredible to watch history as it happens. Pity CNN has to be in the frame.

That was extraordinarily moving to watch. There will always be some who try and sometimes succeed in delaying progress, but they will never stop it.

President Obama is a class act. He may infuriate at times, but you can’t fault him on leadership and rhetorical skills. It has been a great day to be al liberal.
