I’m still amazed this is this close. This election has STILL caused me to lose faith in humanity and our countrymen and women.
Well half of them at least.
That can’t be Trump’s hand - it’s too big.
I, too, am amazed. And yet, I knew that his becoming the GOP Nominee would expand his support among the Tribal-Thinking GOP…which is why I did not want him to get the Nomination (contrary to much conventional wisdom). If Trump were an Independent candidate, he would have probably duplicated Perot’s share of the 1992 vote.
In addition, in Trump’s case, his share of the vote would have siphoned off mostly Republican votes, rendering a Kasich or Cruz GOP Candidacy a disaster.
All this could have been avoided by responsible journalism and a decision to make the share of the GOP Primary vote NOT weighted down by Winner Take All. Trump got most of the Far Right in the Primaries. The rest of the clown car split the rest.
Odd thing. On the whole, Trump supporters are more liberal than Trump with two exceptions, according to Vox. Guns and minimum wage —IOW, screw workers.
Not a lot of economic anxiety. But, the big hole in Vox’s analysis is the failure to account for racial resentment.
I wonder how important abortion is for Trump supporters?
From conversation online, I infer that for some people, making sure SCOTUS overturns Roe V. Wade is more important than civilization itself. What percentage of voters are like this?
