Must be on a delay, cause I’m watching it on TPM now. Why I don’t know.

Me too, it just finished and was not worth the time. She refused to answer several questions. Why do reporters continue to show-up at these things?

I’m still having a hard time deciding when to let go of my aging little friend. She’s still eating and drinking water, but having a hard time walking very far and she’s suffering from dementia now. I did find a vet that will come to my home to give her the cocktail that will enable her to pass away peacefully at home as opposed to the vet’s office whenever I decide the time has come. I thought she was on death’s door for two weeks, with no solid poop and becoming so weak. She’s still weak, but as long as she’s eating and drinking I can’t find it in me to make that call to the doctor. I feel like the squire in “The Madness of King George”, analyzing the royal stools daily to determine her health.

Sorry. Been real preoccupied lately.

Feel your pain. Had to go through that a couple of years ago, but he had a seizure and lost the use of his legs. He remained in good spirits for about a week and then one night he didn’t want dinner. Decision made.

Broke our hearts, but then two weeks later we got a new one at a shelter, and it was the best thing we could have done. Miss the other one (our first dog, raised from a little puppy), but the new one keeps us laughing, moving and very happy.

Edit: I should add most spoiled dog in the universe. :grinning:

It’s never easy. Huxley, my recently deceased min pin was eating and drinking up until the time he passed away in Mrs Von Holst’s arms. Hux had pulmonary hypertension and tricuspid valve damage. Basically, he just slowed down and stopped over a period of a year. He as only 7 1/2. We figured he’d die at home around his family. The question finally comes down to, are we keeping them around simply for our benefit? Every pet is different. You make the best choice you can both the both of you.

I understand completely. We had to euthanize our two oldest dogs a few years ago. It was a horribly painful decision for each, even if it was the correct one. I’m sorry for what you are going through now.

Thanks. I can’t even think of anyone replacing her. She has a special place in my heart. I’ve told her all my secrets and she hates the same things I hate for the most part, except hockey. I feel like I’m losing it some days just thinking of life without her…The cats simply don’t understand what I’m going through. One of them knows something’s up though and tries to comfort her but to no avail.

Precious pooch! You’ll know when it’s the right time to make that call. In their own way our critters tell us. And after saying goodbye we’re just a mess. We’ll mourn with you.

I’d rather have root canal surgery.

Awwww. What a sweet thing.

Well, when the time comes to say good-bye, you’ll know it. And if and when you’re ready, there’s another one out there that needs someone to love and be loved in return. (((hugs)))

My Mischa is maybe 15. I got her when she was 2 or 3 as a rescue when my son went off to college. I’m one of these fools that bought her cute sweaters, coats, t-shirts because she couldn’t handle the cold here with her hair. No undercoat, but also doesn’t shed. She’s a Cairn Yorkie mix I think. My heart hurts bad.

She’s got bad teeth now. I only took her in for one dental treatment about 5 years ago but its really kind of expensive, and now I think she wouldn’t make it through the anesthesia. The vet I talked to about coming to my home tried to talk me into getting her teeth cleaned up, pulled if necessary, and the bacteria cleaned up, saying if that was the problem she could live longer. I think she’s past that point though. I can’t really afford it and I’m not sure if that’s what’s needed. Hard decision. Sometimes she stands facing the wall now and seems to be lost and confused as to where she’s at. I think she’s gone somewhat deaf. Her eyes are OK, no cataracts. Her last visit to the vet in May was good too. Somedays she doesn’t seem to know me, other days she follows me everywhere just like she always did. She’s fallen down more than a few times lately too so I carry her up the stairs. I don’t know…It’ll be happening soon. There’s no way she can get through another Michigan winter. Oh, and she’s having indoor accidents much more frequently.

As one of my favorite TPM poster once said, Sarah’s temperament hinges on the deprivation of a hoagie in her daily diet

…that sourpuss :confounded: expression, while mouthing-off the constant mantra of lies and homage to “dear leader” is wantonly cruel.

Thanks, I’ll take it, as this place has been a real comfort zone for me at times and the comradery has helped me get through plenty of bad periods. I appreciate the support.

She has canine cognitive disorder, doggy dementia. I lost another minpin, Gilly, years ago to it. That’s how it starts, lost in a corner, and six months later she was walking in circles all the time and became completely incontinent and stopped eating. It was time to let her go at that point. She was 16. I’m so sorry.

More bi-labial fricatives from Miss Potato Head.
