Discussion: WATCH LIVE: Obama To Speak After Visiting First US Mosque As President

Discussion for article #245489

I suppose sooner or later he was going to have to divulge the Muslim Brotherhood was seizing the reins of power. A Wednesday is as good a day as any. There’s a couple women in my office that really should be covered head-to-toe anyway, so it’s just as well.

Let’s hope most of the members of his Secret Service detail aren’t drunk or texting other people’s spouses or trying to hook up with underage girls on Tinder or book a hooker during this event. High expectations for the New, Improved Homeland Security version of the Secret Service, admittedly.

THIS is where he’s finally going to announce that he’s taking our guns. I just know it.

Megyn Kelly: We all knew those terrorist jabs were learnt in Madrassas.
Trump: Kenyan birth with fake long form certificate will do to you.

I sure hope this visit doesn’t make the Republicans’ heads explode.
That would be terrible.

Very nice. This country needs many more lessons in tolerance. Wish he’d have done this earlier in his Presidency, and I hope he continues to do this often regardless of what a handful but very vocal bigots and fear-mongers try to project onto the country.

Muslims in America have been horribly maligned in this country, more so during the Obama years than even during Bush’s Presidency following 9/11 I believe. As a Jewish person who knows how that feels, especially coming from people that are simply ignorant in their knowledge, I wish more politicians would stand up to the haters in this country as the President has done today…and educate a few people that are still open to learning.

To me, the goal should be acceptance, not tolerance. Tolerance feels like it’s about putting up with something one finds distasteful.

I think you are right that many people are ignorant in their knowledge, I think it has to do w/ the way that many people only know a narrow group of people who are just like them. There is little curiosity about people who are even slightly different…and group mentality starts to ostracize them…they bond over bashing others. It doesn’t help that we have a whole tv network as well as many popular radio shows that spend a lot of time spreading lies and hate about “Other” people.

So many people in this country have experienced what you have, and it’s not something that is acceptable.
