Discussion: WATCH LIVE: Judiciary Committee Votes On Kavanaugh Nomination At 9:30 AM EST

Oh please. The GOP cocksuckers are so frightened of Whiny and his backers that they’ll confirm an accused rapist to the Court like a shot if it means the death threats will stop.

There is a “deep moat” around Kavanaugh.

You, Sen Grassley should not have peace and quiet for the rest of your life. Burn in hell, you miserable old goat.

I can’t watch today. I’ll look back later. Too much emotion yesterday.

“The ram job continues,” someone said during the R vote.

That’s what I’m saying. There’s a reason why there are 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats on the Judiciary committee, and one of them is showing us why.

Kavanaugh could eat a live baby in front of them and they would still want him confirmed. I’ve been around a long time but I have to say I have never seen this type of mass cognitive dissonance. There is something very wrong with people. It’s beyond politics. It’s pathological. It’s like people don’t have a soul or empathy anymore.

Why am I reminded the reelection rate in the Soviet Politburo was lower than the reelection rate of sitting members of Congress?

There seems to be this competition to see who can be the Meanest Prick in the Party.

I am watching, but with a sense of exhaustion. Our strategy is the same, GOTV, but the hill to climb gets much higher if he is confirmed. The damage becomes that much harder to fix.

I’m beginning to think you don’t find these proceedings suspenseful.

Yep. The strategies to do so will have to be devised without much hope of impartiality from the Supreme Court. And the public will give up any notion the justice system works the way it was envisioned. That’s a sad, sad thing. We can only hope some kind of information emerges that shames him off the court.

No surprise and no surprise that it he will be confirmed tomorrow.

Only hope now, IMO is for Dems to take everything in 2020 and expand the court to 11 or 13 adding 2-4 Liberal judges as a giant FU to the GOP.

I know people will say impeach Kavanaugh but, i think that’s probably a lot harder than people expect

The wisest part of my mind does not find any suspense in this. Just a lot of suffering which partly comes from irrational expectations.

The naivest and childish part of my mind finds suspense in this because it thinks the world ought to be just even though time and time again the world shows me that it is not just. That it has never been just. That a just world is a fools errand.

The wise part of my mind is always trying to subdue the childish and naive mind because the latter causes a lot of suffering for myself and others. Best to learn how to be happy in an unjust world. Still working on it

Above, I was pulling your leg, but as for this:

I could not disagree more.

So 1/49. A Dem from West Virginia. Means you don’t vote and support Dems anymore?

This sounds so much like the anti-Hillary nonsense before Nov 2016 (part of which was Russian trolling).

I don’t understand how Dems haven’t learnt their lessons from 2016 yet. Self sabotaging defeatism is self sabotaging. It’s not that complicated.

Sure, keep expectations low. But that doesn’t mean you reduce effort or discourage.

On MSNBC, while Grassley drones on, Senators Harris and Hirono are giving an interview outside the meeting room after walking out. The imagery is striking. Old-ass white, privileged America on the left side of the screen and a more inclusive and progressive America on the right hand of the screen.
