Discussion for article #246514
Republicans for Trump think they are upping the GOP’s game.
Lindsey, you helped create this Republican party. You had no trouble with the “Southern Strategy” of Nixon / Reagan. You sought out the racists and xenophobes. Your BFF, John McCain, helped the process along when he unleashed Wasilla Kardashian and Joe the I Wanna Be A Plumber onto the stage. Now is too late to come to your senses.
“And I know I’m supposed to be funny,”
And you are funny, Senator Graham! Just not intentionally…
The Republicans have no one to blame for Trump but themselves .
They created him via the Oligarch-backed “Tea Party” insurgency. Trump is the inevitable result of appealing to the base instincts of the Xenophobes, Evangelicals, Racists, New Confederacy secessionists, and low information Rubes that now make up the MAJORITY of their party.
YOU MADE THIS Republicans. Deal with it.
Take one for the team and go for a “brokered convention” which of course will descend into outright chaos that will make the 1968 Democratic convention look tame by comparison. Trump will bolt and run as an Independent, the Cruz supporters will go nuts and the empty-suit Rubio will be seen for the incompetent know-nothing he really is.
At least it will be a wonderful spectacle to see.
Demasiado tarde, amigo.
Ustedes ya perdieron control.
Al principio, empezaron una estrategia de racismo…y, despues
MAS RACISMO
If only several million someones had warned you repeatedly for 25+ years that you were building a machine that made Donald Trumps, you could have used your legendary strength of character and honesty to stop it!!
Or, alternatively, you could have spent that time being the bitchy life of the party at endless Washington black-tie dinners and then wondered why no one on either side gave a damn what you thought.
It’s a little late to start being ett up by the vapors now, dear.
I feel like some Republicans and more of America are just now beginning to realize what most of us scary liberals have known for 20 or more years. It’s like they’ve never looked in the mirror before, until Trump got on stage and held one up for them. Yeah, Graham, your party is f—king ugly, and has been for a very long time.
Exactly, he calls Hillary Clinton “the most dishonest person in America” and then wonders who made his party “batshit crazy.”
He had some good lines in there, though.
That’s some funny Shiite right there. The Palin endorsement has kinda gotten lost in Trump’s string of primary wins. 8 years ago she was the VP nominee that had the GOP base spellbound.
My Dad was a company grade officer in Korea. In the field, in combat, he learned to do his best to avoid surprises. He is passed on. But I know what he would say about Trump if he were alive:
"Steve Schmidt, who the MSM converted into level headed, fairminded Sainthood (with Woody Harrelson’s portrayal of Schmidt in the film “Game Changer”, which featured Harrelson as Schmidt saying all the cornball “right-thing-to-do” mantras to the out of control Sarah Palin) confirmed on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show over a week ago that he is Ready to Rumble with Trump. That Trump speaks to the failure of Barack Obama. That Trump will dominate either Bernie or Hillary in debates.
Aside from the disgust that Schmidt evokes, my takeaway from this is that, WHOMEVER these Republicans nominate, it’s All Hands On Deck for the GOP.
ALWAYS
And by any means necessary (including Dirty Tricks making Dick Nixon look like a Cub Scout)
John McCain and “Myth” Romney were both demonstrably flawed candidates, and the GOP was not blown out in either election–won by one of the great Presidents…Barack Obama.
If Trump gets the nod, they and their communication arm (the MSM) will clean him up and they’ll roll out the Game Plan"
–Quoted from a great Army Officer–
Actually, the WERE “blown out” by Obama. He had larger % wins than any other President since Nixon in 68, both in the electoral college and the popular vote.
I’m talking Nixon (1972) and Reagan (1984) and Landon (1936) numbers.
Schmidt is such an annoying piece of shit. He was ready to rumble with Sarah Palin, too, until he realized that his Golden Goose was a plucked chicken.
When I saw that Lawrence O’Donnell show, I wanted to reach in the screen and “darlo un punetazo”. I am sure Lawrence wanted to do the same thing (but he is too superkool
)
I wish your Dad were here so I could thank him for his service. Korean War was the forgotten war. I live in a small community, 700 residents, when I walk our cemetery I always pause at the monument of a young man that never made it back home, he is still one of those missing in action.
God Bless all our veterans!
Sorry I got off topic, everyone!
America was supposedly great when Lindsey Graham during a concocted partisan impeachment trial obsessed on the Senate floor about a phone call to Bettie Currie. What could go wrong with American greatness?
Thanks.
Then military kids of all races with whom I grew up were all colours and all American to the core. We were raised (and taught, overseas) by people who fought in that war and WWII. They had their flaws, to be sure,
but those people merit the title The Greatest Generation.
They have all gotten into the reflexive use of such language, that they aren’t even capable of grasping the connections anymore.
