Damn. People can be so bad. Or so effin’ beautiful, like this father and his son. (And kudos to the reporter for letting them talk.)

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Okay…now I’m crying (again).

Just the sort of father and son Chris Christie is so afraid of.

“and should some why completely weep
my father’s fingers brought her sleep”

Would that those who wish so fervently to play “fathers” to the Amurikkkan public spent their time, like this father, putting our whys and our fears to sleep…rather than stirring them into a frenzy for personal gain. As the act of parenting is one of selflessness, so too should be the act of governing.

But for most politicians the point is gathering power to themselves, It isn’t about doing good for anyone else. Maybe I’m just too cynical anymore. That dad is the sort of man I’ve run into many times in France.

Therein lies the rub I suppose…that those least suited to governing tend to be the one best equipped for gaining the opportunity to do so.

The truly good ones are all the more rare and precious for it I suppose.

Good description of Obama I think.
Mrs darr and I are still planning a trip to France this summer. I have visited many times. And we fully intend to go again. We want to visit friends in Normandy and Paris. We aren’t about to have thugs dictate our lives. We take precautions of course but I am not gonna live in fear.

Wow.

Beats the fromage out of losing your shit and giving the terrorists the precise reaction they seek.

Don’t do it. No matter how careful you are, you may become the victim of a horrible tragedy and find that you have become a Socialist.

If only our leaders showed the strength and intelligence of this father we’d be in a better place.

This should ignite a paroxysm of rightwing anger directed at French Japanese…

Or a kind hearted person like that dad with his young son.
I followed this tragedy most of Saturday and lost it when this guy trundled his piano down to the Bacalan Theater, set it up and began to play John Lennon’s “Imagine”.

Replied to Matt in PA

Heh, now that I think about it I already am a socialist since I’m older and on Medicare and Social Security.
Hee hee!

Matt, I´m an atheist, but that´s the kind of God I could vote for.

OTOH: “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” No worries, I’m the same old steadfast agnostic I’ve been since about age 8, but you wonder sometimes. Just to dot the i’s, I think if there’s any kind of knowable divinity, it’s knowable, however through-a-glass-darkly, through that kind of love we saw up top.

Wait a minute, I thought all the Asians lived in Brooklyn and Queens.

But seriously, the thoughtfulness and intelligence this little boy demonstrates is the result of great parenting, engaging the kids at a high level, and a lot, and in a secure and loving family structure. Typical of Asians, at least ones I watch on the subway.

Not necessarily as much with other groups I also see on the subway.
