I hope the GOP stocked up on fainting couches and smelling salts beforehand…

Way to break barrier’s, Senator Duckworth!

AWWWWW!!!

I think we should require Senators to bring their kids to watch the Senate in action at least once a week. That would be a real reform.

I loved the “all-white” contingent of Senate pages sitting there watching her leave.

That’s so awesome. Good for her!

What party is she from again? Ha! I kid, I kid.

Some conservative pundit complained she could “weaponize” the baby to affect legislation something something something who knows. He’s undergoing the death of a thousand tweets at this moment.

Try to stand in the way of Herstory unfolding by ugly tweet - expect a massive twitter pileup and mocking.

And yet they never learn that. Slow on the uptake.

“Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s (D-IL) newborn daughter Maile Pearl Bowlsbey made her Senate debut Thursday…”

I’m just relishing the thought of months…and months…and months…of besuited, pasty, GOP men recoiling in horror – horror! – as Sen. Duckworth nurses her child on the Senate floor.

And maybe even while recognized and speaking…

Speaking fainting couches and affecting legislation, can you imagine what would’ve happened if ‘heaven forbid’ the baby had been hungry?

cc @maximus

eta, of course @irasdad beat me to it

Be careful! The baby is a weapon!

This shouldn’t have been difficult for the Senate -after all they’re catering to a giant baby at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Read the WaPo article about the female pilot of the Southwest flight that had to make the emergency landing on Tuesday. Amazing calm and totally professional and capable. There were several comments after that described past male reaction to a female pilot in the cockpit, and some certainly did not cover themselves with glory. Embarrassing and ignorant. Still lots of those around, unfortunately.

We’ve come a long way, but not nearly far enough.

Yay for Senator Duckworth and those who happily agreed to the rule change.

And to those who dared not say no, well, thanks.

The sounds of burping and crying could be heard throughout the chamber.

And Tammy said: “Stop it - you’ll wake up the baby!”

Pat Roberts commented that they shouldn’t mind. There were plenty of crybabies on the floor of the Senate.

Just don’t be surprised if McConnell rebukes the baby if she cries.

As he said to Senator Warren:

“She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Sen. Duckworth voted correctly.

Bridenstine is a true Republican shyster: All climate change deniers, in whatever form, are political idiots and/or assholes. Further, the idea of having a climate change denier running NASA is like having an anti-environmentalist running the EPA – appropriate that they should both be from Oklahoma.

Republicans are a disease. They represent the worst of humanity. They seemingly can do nothing right and will naturally engage in all manner of subterfuge to do harm. The frightening part is that they have broad support. What will save us from pervasive idiocy and shysterism? Is humanity at an evolutionary cul-de-sac? Why is humanity so retarded in 2018?

Thanks, Josh.

There were Senators having the Vapors over this.

Probably scared their mistresses were going to get ideas.
