Discussion: WATCH: CNN Panelist Gives Ultimate Mansplanation For That Viral Anti-Catcall Video

Discussion for article #229636

I’m a guy and I did not approve this message. When you say “we,” pal, make it clear you’re speaking for lummoxes like yourself and not for all men, some of whom can actually act appropriately and not like jerks even if, believe it or not, they think a woman is attractive.

“So how do we know some of those guys weren’t planted?”

Well, you may have been planted at one time yourself, Santagati, because you’re as dumb as a stump.

“I’m a guy and I know how we think more than you guys will ever know.”

OK. So, while discussing the thought process of these guys, your experience will probably provide some insight. Is that what you do?

“The bottom line is this, ladies,” he added. “You would not care if all these guys were hot. They would be bolstering your self-esteem, bolstering your ego. There is nothing more that a woman loves to hear than how pretty she is.”

Um, yeah, your experience as a guy doesn’t actually give you any insight into what the women experiencing this feel, or would feel.

I wondered if he realized his immediate hyprocrisy myself. She can’t tell you what men think or why they behave this way, but you can unequivocally tell her what every woman on earth thinks when faced with this behavior.

Oh God dammit!

The man’s position is: speaking for men as a man is good…speaking for woman as a woman is not.

The rest of his crap is sophomoric BS that belongs in a frat house. For example:

“The bottom line is this, ladies,” he added. “You would not care if all these guys were hot. They would be bolstering your self-esteem, bolstering your ego. There is nothing more that a woman loves to hear than how pretty she is.”

“I’m also very suspicious because this was put together by an ad agency to go viral,” he continued. “So how do we know some of those guys weren’t planted?”

The kid who made this video is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He’s been doing this video viral thing for awhile now. He started in GR and used his ideas to fund some pretty good causes so far.

We are so fortunate to have Santagati who is expertly qualified to explain not only male psychology to us by virtue of his gonads, but also female psychology to us, by virtue of his gonads.

Holy Cow, that dude might be the most ignorant douchebag I have ever seen (outside the GOP caucus on Capitol Hill)

The dude is fighting a losing battle and the fact that he hasn’t realized it yet just proves that he has no clue whatsoever about women or what he is babbling about.

Does he really think that because he says so that women will just go, Oh-he’s right about us, what were we thinking?

Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars.
Steven Santagati is from Douche Ville, in fact, he is the Mayor of Douche.

The misogynist is a pig.

BTW, Rob Bliss, the creative young genius behind a Lip Dub video he did from my hometown a few years back, seems to truly have his heart in the right place. This Neanderthal on CNN doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

We have now officially reached the point at which not being “PC” has become so PC that those they ridicule for being PC are validated. Can we please start building the reeducation camps now?

What did CNN expect by bringing that guy on? What was the title of his book again? Yeah, like HE was going to acknowledge street harrassment.

This is golden. He’s telling them to “turn around and tell them [cat-callers] to shut up” as a tactic against cat-calling. And when she points out that a woman was killed recently for doing that, his advice is then “so carry a gun”. And then he scores some bonus points for blaming the whole situation on bad parenting and people “having too many kids”.

Somebody get this guy a Fox News contract. He’s a slimy enough piece of shit I’m sure their viewership would go nuts for him.

There is a kernel of truth to his position but he is off the mark. Yes many women like to be acknowledged and recognized for their clothes, hair, new earrings, what have you. However, compliments need to be in a context of friendship, mindfulness, and done in such a way that the whole person is recognized. The problem with the men in the video is that they (almost to a man) objectify the woman in order to make it all about themselves. Their own needs. Their perceptions, ego, and immature ideas of “manliness”. You can’t possibly think that these are compliments when the men are complete strangers who don’t even know her name let alone her hopes and dreams. Most mature men realize early on that it’s a complicated dance to acknowledge beauty. You’d better at least know the woman’s name before you jump right into objectification.

Most of these problems could just be solved if everyone just carried a gun.

What did CNN expect? Exactly what they got. Why do you think they asked him on?
