Chuck Todd and most journalists don’t have the nerve to as about the morality of these laws. It should be straight up asked 1) if you’re a representative of your state why do you choose to not represent the whole state, not just certain interests, 2) how is it not “government overreach” to knock down lawful ordinances that a majority of a city, thorough their leaders, have agreed to, and 3) how is it moral to make a group you don’t like virtual second class citizens.

“Grill” is such an inappropriate verb to describe an interview dominated by the $2 Haircut Governor’s standard “aw shucks” act. “Quizzed” in your lead graph better reflects Chuck’s leashed puppy hesitancy to growl at this two-faced fool.

I have been reading my bible. Matthew 7-12 says “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” I keep looking for the exception for the treatment of members of the LGBT community but can’t find it. Maybe Chuck could have asked Pat where Pat’s supporters think the exception is in the Gospel.
You know I think there are similar passages in the old testament and in the Koran. In fact I think there are similar scriptures in just about every major religion. On top of that I am pretty sure that has been a common rule for living a good honorable life since at least the time of the Romans, probably before.

Did the governor elaborate on how he prefers to be reelected by the far right elements in the state with lots of help from Art Pope than to do what’s right for North Carolinians? No? Then I didn’t miss anything.

I think the problem is that folks are equating transgender people with sexual deviants that are just seeking out under age children of the opposite sex. Not sure they will ever be able to grasp that concept or even desire to understand. Their god said it, they believe it, that settles it.
I think the best way to deal with it is show how this law is no different than Jim Crow laws. I still doubt they’ll believe it, but might get them to allow it.

Yeah, except given the chance to reverse 150 years of progress at racial harmony residents of North Carolina would be perfectly happy with the re-institution of Jim Crow laws. Hell, they’d bring picnic baskets to a public lynching if one was announced.

North Carolina is supposed to be the best of the Southern States. It has a highly educated tech belt and lots and lots of money, but I guess education and wealth doesn’t mean progressive politics. I think the problem is with the local religion which is southern evangelical/prosperity Jesus. They are divorced from the hard parts of the Gospel, like tolerance. Every Sunday they learn that Jesus loves and forgives them. “Them” being the operative word. They haven’t been taught that Jesus also loves people not like them. They sure as hell aren’t taught Jesus expects them to love other people too.

The real problem with the law they passed is that they fully used the shock doctrine. They threw a bunch of other things they could not get through. Things like only the state can set a minimum wage. Its now ok to discriminate against veterans, women, blacks or the minority of your religious choice. Other religions too. If your religion has a problem with people of another faith its ok to discriminate against them. And you have no recourse in the state of North carolina. This law is not just about transgenders, they slipped every concervative meme in there including the kitchen sink. But everyone just talks about the transgender issue. Thats what the Shock Doctrine was all about. It was actually a book, with words on pages. Read it.
