Discussion: Watch Bernie Fans Go Wild When A Bird Lands On Sanders' Rally Podium

It’s a sign from God!!!

Or a variation of that old saying: if a bird looks in your window, you’re in trouble.

That had to happen in Portland, OR too didn’t it?

The video made me smile
not a lot of that with political videos these days

In this cycle that was like crawling across the desert, dying of thirst, and discovering a café table with an umbrella, a glass, a corkscrew, and a perfectly chilled bottle of Frascati. Completely unexpected and oh man, so welcome.

Call me a fangirl, but this makes me so happy.

Forget politics. Just enjoy this joyful moment with Birdie Sanders.

Very lovely little moment. But my Facebook Sanders-supporting friends are now saying things like “it’s a sign” and “can one little bird save the universe”? And I want to go drink bleach.

Don’t count your podiums before they hatch

I agree, it’s a sweet moment but I wonder if it’s letting some of his supporters in for a let down. Symbolism is powerful and sometimes people can take it to its extreme. Then they’re let down when their hopes aren’t manifested in accordance with the symbolism.

Actually, the bird flew over to correct his pronunciation of Oregon. Typical east-coast blunder with the Brooklyn accent, he slaughtered it.

Also, “it’s clear who Mother Nature wants for president!”

Yes, that’s definitely a concern. It’s a concern because this is happening on the level of feeling and emotion rather than in the frontal cortex where you can put things in context and make judgments.

I don’t know what happens. Maybe it’s like PT Barnum and these are the some of the people you can fool all of the time?

One of my very favorite Rachel fun segments is about Oregon ‘weird’

This makes me laugh
folks that live there are VERY particular on how Oregon is pronounced. Call it Or-E-gone at your risk

Bird was so brave because it was dehydrated. Notice how it pecks at Bernie’s water bottle. Hope someone gave it some water!

Trump I expect would bite its head off or something, to prove his manliness.

Good thing Dick Cheney wasn’t in the audience.

Gotta admit this was pretty funny, as are the follow-up graphics and memes.

Quite possibly an English Sparrow (aka house sparrow). If so, an introduced species. If pigeons are flying rats, then these critters are flying house mice.

[Yes. I am totally without sentiment in such matters.]
