“…What triggered him? That’s what we need to find out…”
It was the gun.
Exactly. I worked at a high school for 20 years - 15 year old kids do stupid things. Our brains are still developing at that age. The difference between the fight he got into earlier and Friday was the gun.
we know how he got the gun yet?
“The family, both sides, are very religious,” he said. “If I were to
walk into their homes right now, they would probably be praying.”
I think we’ve identified the root of the problem right there (note the term “religious,” which has pretty much nothing to do with spirituality). Brainwashing a child with that sort of filth is going to have serious consequences.
The gun was merely a convenient tool. Don’t get all hung up about how “the Gun” somehow “caused” this. The boy had been fucked over mentally and spiritually to make him this unbalanced. We don’t know where he got it yet, but it would seem probably from his own household … which, if so, would just be further indication of the mental illness permeating the home environment.
The gun DID cause this.
Teenage boys have all kinds of violent thoughts. What prevents them from acting out? The unavailability of guns. If every teenage boy had easy access to a gun, we’d have school shootings in every school every day.
There are crazy kids in many other countries, but do they shoot up others in school? No; why? Because it’s HARD to get a gun. Here in the U.S., so easy to get one. And stupid parents (like Adam Lanza’s mom) thinks giving a gun a teenage boy will make them “connect.” WRONG!
It was his daddy’s gun, most likely lying around the house.
