The New Olympic Event - Rushing blindly to judgement…
And if the same number of people were shot and killed at a single location, and they’d not been police officers, would this story even survive the 24 hour national news cycle? Probably, but after 48? Unlikely.
The two people in the car were taken into custody and questioned, Brown said. No other details were being reported about the stop or the people in the car, but local news station WFAA reported they were questioned and released.
Loretta Lynch and Hillary made a phone call, ordering their release. Alex Jones has all the details.
Trump: I don’t care whether it was his race or religion. Till we figure it out I propose banning all blacks and/or all Christians/Muslims(whatever his religion) from owning guns.
This is strange. I was up last night watching the live feeds. The stations kept repeating one of the first cell phone videos showing the start of the melee and I could swear I thought it sounded distinctly like 2 semi-autos going off. This is the video with the voiceover saying “somebody is armed to the teeth.” I want to know what was in the camo bag in the trunk of the Mercedes that officers stopped on I35, then apparently arrested two more suspects. I get that LE doesn’t want to tip their hand in case the information would compromise their investigation.
I’m on low sleep and high anxiety. But I’m feeling very impatient with the dearth of information being disseminated.
You should hear Stewart Rhodes, the founder of Oath Keepers, on this. He’s over on Raw Story screaming for the resurrection of the militas in every town in America, in order to deal with things like Dallas.
Never mind the fact that the militia system was found to be–very early in this country’s hstory–about as useful as a screen door in a submarine.
Oath Keepers have been found to be just as worthless.
Another mystery: Some asshole in Bristol, Tennessee went on a rampage late the evening of July 6th, shooting cars on a highway, at businesses, etc. He killed one person and wounded several others. The police have not released any information on the shooter, despite his being wounded and taken into custody that night. No media outlet within 50 miles of Bristol has updated or added to the story in nearly a day. ???

The inference I draw is that the bigger the media market the more coverage a potentially incendiary event will get and in a smaller market, Bristol TN for example it won’t be splashed on front pages or in “BREAKING NEWS!” headlines on the tube. Shooters who want to live on in infamy probably understand this.

In 1859, when crazy ol’ John Brown and a dozen or so of his followers tried to seize the U.S. Armory at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, they ended up holed up in the armory’s fire engine house. The War Department in Washington sent its most senior officer available on short notice, a Colonel named Robert E. Lee. (You may have heard of him.) Lee brought with him the only U.S. government troops available, Marines from the barracks near the Washington Navy Yard.
Lee offered repeatedly to include the local militia in his plans for taking the engine house, and those brave Virginians balked, and left it to the federal government to come in and do the hard, dangerous part. Which, once done, those proud citizens of the Commonwealth re-asserted their authority, took custody of Brown, and promptly hanged him for treason against the state of Virginia.
Local militia came in handy at Concord in 1775, but not so much since then.
a well-planned, well-thought out, evil strategy
Does “team” include any right wing billionaire potentially funding the murderous provocation?
Possibly - but only because it was a black-on-white attack. Might have had it been a white-on-black one.
Mostly for ratings.
Can you imagine what a race war will do for ratings?
Ah! But when the gov was shut down, they were ready to protect the vet monuments in DC and answer Palin’s call to duty!
They also have a freedom report podcast, the Solution to Police Shootings, but I didn’t have the appetite to watch.
They live in a different universe. Foxed up cognitive filters.
If we lived in a sane country, then simply being armed at a public event would be grounds for suspicion. But in our country, where guns are right behind water and oxygen as fundamental necessities to a huge swath of people, simply having a gun at a rally means nothing. I know guns and anger and hate are all separate issues here, but at least you can legislate guns. Or you could, if you lived in a sane country.
The confusion is understandable. A lone gunman can seem like many if the gun he’s using is a semiautomatic rifle. These weapons need to be banned, not that they ever will in the foreseeable future.
People always think there are more shooters than they are. This is certainly not the first time there’s been confusion on the point after a horrible sniper killing in Dallas.
I haven’t read all the TPM threads on this so maybe it’s already been discussed, but this struck me as extremely bizarre:
the lone holdout who was killed by police in the middle of the night when a robot was deployed with a bomb near his position.
They have a lone shooter, with no hostages, cornered, and all they can think to do is…blow him up? Is that really the only tool DPD had at their disposal? I understand that the likelihood of this guy surviving was slim to none, but…robot-deployed bombs is now SOP for handling lone whackos? Why not tear gas, concussion, taser…all of which could be robot-delivered?
There is a disturbing lack of attempts by police to deescalate situations, in general. Robot-delivered bombs just seems to be in the same vein to me…
And the Gold Medal goes to CNN.
According to the NRA the United States has approximately 325 million people that belong to the militia.
