McConnell is an obvious political creature, Graham definitely leaped into front-runner status, and Ted Cruz is self-explanatory. Need I say more?

We should place principles before personalities, but if we’re unwilling to acknowledge imperfect messengers, Democrats will continue to lose. I clearly wandered unintentionally into a DailyKos thread. Sorry.

Nailed it - these guys have the superpower of shamelessness and the total lack of introspection somehow aids this. The entire comment is dripping with male privilege in a way that makes you realize how totally and completely clueless he is. And because he has allowed women who defer to him and treat him with the “respect he deserves” to rise in organizations he has overseen, he thinks he has no bias whatsoever. In this way he is as Trumpian as Trump.

Now we know how he has survived this long.

Still didn’t answer my question. McConnell is devious and underhanded, Graham whines and rants, and Cruz is obnoxious and disliked. But you used the word grating for Warren. So I would like like to know which other politician is grating in your view.

Kelly, a toxic little martinet, a racist, and a woman-hater, seems to be struggling with some kind of guilt or rage so corrosive that it has consumed him.

I sometimes get the very strong sense that whatever it is has something to do with his son Robert who died in Afghanistan (this the son whose death Kelly exploited in order to attack Barack Obama and defend Donald Trump, the son of whom Kelly keeps insisting, almost as if he’s trying to convince himself, “he wanted to be there: he volunteered.”).

One just can’t help sensing there’s some profound and passionate and ruinous guilt of Kelly’s that lies buried in Robert’s grave. Kelly was never a nice man: but he’s also clearly a troubled man.That much rage doesn’t come from nothing.

She’s intense, she’s passionate, she has strong opinions based on deep knowledge–especially about banking and bankruptcy. I’ve never heard that she grates on Democratic colleagues, but to Republicans and other misogynists, she is exactly the sort of competent–and confident–woman they despise and see as arrogant. After all, she acts as if she has every right to speak up, to demand answers, to do her job as a Senator–and men like Kelly cannot abide such “arrogance.”

Oh, wow. You are going out of your way to find an insult. If you don’t see that Cruz is just as grating, you’re going out of your way to see this as a sexist comment.

You just won’t give up. As many have pointed out, Sen Warren is a straightforward public intellectual as well as a politician. She speaks passionately about the struggles of the middle class and repeatedly hammers home the issues of economic inequality and institutional racism that are tearing this country apart. She uses language that all voters understand and can relate to when discussing complex consumer finance laws.

But, sure, she grates on some unnamed “colleagues” so she is why the Democrats are not successful.
