Discussion: Warren Hits Richard Burr: He's 'Like A Puppy On A Leash' With Trump

When Warren gets done with that idiot who wants to run against her in the next election, there wonā€™t be enough left to mail home in a regulation envelope.

Burr: That is true. I like to think that there is no daylight between me and Trump. Leash length is close to zero.

I REALLY want NC to have a Blue electionā€¦President,Senate and Governor.

And people ā€¦ some people on this very website, even ā€¦ wanted to waste her on the Vice President slot.

Nope.jpg. Definitely prefer her off the leash and running wild.

Although ā€¦ I sure wish there was a way to make her the Majority Leader. Damn, but she would run the Senate. The Republicans would be terrified of her.

We should really stage a write-in campaign to all our Democratic Senators, Representatives and the DNC and demand that Warren be made Majority Leader.

Elizabeth Warren: the President we need today (but canā€™t have). Warren for President in 2020!

Let me clear: I support Hillary Clinton. I want Hillary to humiliate Dishonest Don to the point that he doesnā€™t dare bring that awful comb-over and unnatural skin color in public ever again. But despite playing a left candidate for the campaign, Hillary is slightly right of center: the Trumpublican party is so far into the fever swamp that she appears to be left of center.

We need a President (and a Congress to go with her!) that is left of center, to drag the Overton window back to the middle. We need to be able to talk about things like Dodd-Frank and the ACA as if they were what they are: conservative solutions to real problems. I donā€™t think Hillary can do that.

ETA: Clarification re: campaign stance.

Elizabeth Warren is attacking someone in a wheelchair?

Deplorable!

Oh wait, that was Raymond Burr.

Never mindā€¦

Warren is now and will remain a valuable asset. I was in Boston for a few days and before I left yesterday, noticed a headline in the Boston Globe:

Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren on the same page - for now.

The writer claims that the two are on opposite sides of the Democratic Party. Theyā€™re not.

Sheā€™s good; she would have been a great VP choice for Clinton.

Born: June 22, 1949.

It makes me very sad, but she would be 75 in 2024 ā€¦ because (unless Hillary dies/is otherwise disabled in office) our Democratic candidate is virtually set in granite at this point for 2020. As much as I admire her, I have serious doubts about a 75 year old running for the Presidency, and (as I begin to approach that age bracket) I also doubt the fitness of someone that age to meet all the critical demands.

However, she may yet surprise me and Iā€™ll certainly keep an open mind on the topic.

Also, however, we as Democrats had better be spending very, VERY serious energy on finding and grooming a worthy successor to Hillary. And Obama. Thereā€™s an incredible responsibility upon us to find someone who will carry those legacies forward. And we are going to be fighting a completely unhinged right wing after the humiliation they are experiencing this election; you know they will not take any more responsibility for tRump than they have for the Cheney administration, and they WILL blame Democrats for their FAIL and they WILL spend the upcoming years trying to punish us for their FAIL.

Elizabeth Warren? As she is today would, indeed, be perfect. In 2024 ā€¦?

Like I said above ā€¦ nobody else in the Senate is better qualified than she is to be Senate Majority Leader. She would certainly have about the best credentials to make sure that she stays the MAJORITY Leader during her time.

I have o fucks to give about any of the ā€œOld Boy Rulesā€ on how ā€œitā€™s supposed to go.ā€ Bypassing Schumer for somebody else is something worth getting focused on ā€¦ especially once he gets seated and we can truly evaluate if he can rise up to the position beyond what his disappointing performance has suggested for all these past years.

And give up a Senate seat for a generally ceremonial job? Why?

No. Hillary IS left of center. Liz is left. I love the characterization of Hillary. I believe you support her but you are listening to all the BS that has been thrown at her and have bought into it. Warren is great where she is. A firebrand with facts. We NEED someone with her passion and fire in the SENATE where laws are made, regulations are written and real work (sometimes) gets done.

Warren Hits Richard Burr: Heā€™s ā€˜Like A Puppy On A Leashā€™ With Trump

Thatā€™s demeaning, and cruel.

You go, girl!

Well, HRC described herself as being center-left to center-right. So thereā€™s that.

@stradivarius50t3 I absolutely agree about pulling the Overton window back. Weā€™ve been so cowed by the right wing, the left self-censors itself on progressive issues.

Burr is on top in nearly all the polls, but the race is close. I think his comment tying himself to Trump was foolish. It gives Ross a giant opening and that is what Warren is trying to exploit. More money for Ross.

What you are pointing out is why the Democratic party and especially progressive Democrats need to rebuild their respective benches. That happens at the local and state levels. We need a 50 state strategy that funds state party building.

Agreed.
It pisses me off when all the mansplainers assume that Hillary will be Bill 2.0 because they have bought into all the bullshit the MSM has been spewing about her for the last 20 years (and their own latent misogyny that they donā€™t realize.)
SHE is the one who tried to get Single Payer passed in 1993 and got smacked down hard for it and that is the root cause of the 25 year campaign to discredit and abuse her, they are scared to death she will do it again and it will get passed this time.
SHE is the one who got SNAP passed by a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS led by Newt Gingrich!
SHE is the one who has fought for poor children and the disabled to get a quality education for her entire adult life.
Donā€™t believe the bullshit the MSM is spoon-feeding you.
Warren and Sanders would not be out there fighting to get her elected if she was the Nixon-in-a-pantsuit you have been led to believe over all these years.
Is she the ā€œLiberal Saviorā€ the far-left is dreaming of? Of course not. She is a pragmatic POLITICIAN tempered by the white-hot fires of hatred and misogyny poured upon her for her entire adult life, but she really DOES CARE and will do her damnedest to help as many people as she can, no matter what the doubting unicorn-wishers think (most of whom would accuse FDR himself of being a ā€œshill for Wall Street!ā€)

I fully expect Yertle McConnell to announce that he views his job as making Hillary Clinton a one-term President on January 21, 2017. Heā€™ll probably do it with little Paulie Ryan standing next to him, nodding aggressively.

With the Presidential two-term limit, second terms for Presidents are notoriously unsuccessful. What did Clinton accomplish (aside from staying in office) during his second term? Reagan? How about Eisenhower? There is no point in asking about W Bush ā€“ he accomplished nothing of note in his first term and the second was worse. Obamaā€™s second term has not been particularly successful either.

Itā€™s possible that Hillary will be tired of dealing with the likes of Yertle and Rayn [sic] by 2019. If she does, she could do a lot worse than be succeeded by Elizabeth Warren. If she does, sheā€™ll probably back Kaine as a matter of loyalty. But Warren and Kaine should debate it out and let us choose.

THIS. Twice, or perhaps thrice over.

I donā€™t Warren has the chops or background to handle foreign policy as President. Sheā€™s fantastic in the Senate, and she could be great in the Cabinet. Use her strengths, rather than putting her in a position for which she isnā€™t suited.
