The best way to punish the Russians would be to do something like bringing down the system for the central bank for an hour or two. Or cutting off natural gas pipelines intermittently for a week or so. Let the Russians know that we can cause as much damage as they can. (Worked during the Cold War.)
Stealing Putin’s money would be my choice. If he wakes up $50 billion poorer tomorrow, I wouldn’t care how it happened.

Not sure exactly what set you off but be certain of one thing here - - obama does not first announce and then not do. If he says that he’s going to do something it’s as good as done. Count on it.

Nothing set me off, actually. I do have a distaste for someone who starts off, “I’d like to thank the academy…” Don’t tell us what you’d like to do–do it. But my real point is that sanctions are of much less limited value than hitting the Russians someplace where it hurts, without doing huge or obvious damage that would require payback–just enough to let them know to stifle themselves, as Archie Bunker would put it.
